£9 more on the day, which frankly is annoying...

£9 more on the day, which frankly is annoying... It's fair enough I think. Good to offer things to the fans!

Well I don't agree with 'on the day' hikes anyway but a £9 'on the day' hike is frankly ridiculous and there is no justification. I will get fed up if such daftness continues…
£10 for a 2nd round league cup game is about right. £19 is not about right.

£19.00 is just being greedy!

Take advantage of the offer then.
I forgot to buy my Barnsley tickets in advance and ended up paying over the odds on the gate but it was my fault, not the club's!
Put it this way...I won't forget again!

Yeah, there are several ways to get the deal...walk in and buy (other than 2-5pm on sat), online or over the phone and collect (other than 2-5pm on sat), online with a small fee for postage... The options have been well publicised so no reason to have a go at the club.

Well there is and I can. What would be the 'normal' price for a 2nd round league cup game v Middlesbrough? I am guessing £10 is probably the norm. So 'early bird' is really just the normal price. Fail to buy in advance (for whatever the reason) leaves you with a £9 or 90% surcharge. That to me is bang out of order and in no way does is replicate any of the 'costs' the club alluded to when they brought in the 'on the day' surcharge.
For me, it is completely unnecessary and unfair.

I have had a look and our pricing is better than Barnsley. Only their season card holders can get below £20...

Our pricing is better than most if not all clubs at this level. I have constantly praised the club for this, I just don't think a 90% on the day price rise is justifiable and I think the £10 price is about right for a 2nd round League cup game. just my opinion...

I'm totally with you on this pricing m'larkey Funky. It's just commercial crap in my mind - all this early bird nonsense. Like there's something special about those who can or do get their tickets early? Not every one can.
I've said before if the club cared about supporter convenience it would maintain one price and cash on the gate. (Obviously I'm allowing for season tickets and age differences where I can see the sense of them)
What is the advantage of selling home match day tickets in advance exactly? Is it that you might be forced to buy ahead and then something crops up so you cannot make the game but the Club still gets your money anyway - very fair.
I know you have to get tickets for concerts etc. but this a capacity thing isn't it - if we were going to sell out the stadium every week then I could see the need for them.

Could it have something to do with league rules, or security/policing wanting the numbers as early as possible? But anyone can pick up the phone and order a ticket.

I think you will find there are various reasons, those that peacock has indicated plus staffing levels, programme printing, stock for the tea bars, bars etc etc, much more to it than what you first imagine.
