The comment about Alex MacDonald was not made by Gary in comparison to the Kee situation by the way, I did that and you can see how things can get shifted a bit. What Gary said about AM was when he was explaining about the character of some of the players. He said that AM had rung him up during the close season (or towards the end of last season, I forget) and asked whether he was part of his (GR's) plans. GR said that he was but that he still felt there were some areas he (AM) could improve. AM asked what they were, GR told him and AM has got stuck in, improved his fitness, moved to Burton and shown great commitment and character. It was said in a complimentary and supportive way. Anyway, that is my perception of what he said.

Wasn't there last night but had GR's positive comments about Alex Mcdonald reported to me. Surely he is the most improved player at the club on current form? Also heard that Alex is the member of the squad who contributes much to team spirit and humour. Good to hear!

To be fair Macdonalds only 24 - younger than I realised. Maybe he's woken up to maximising his potential. He's certainly more impressive the bits I've seen of him. If it's ongoing even better.

I was there last night, very open it was and very enlightening, interesting and enjoyable. I am in total agreeance with the comments of spence and funky. I had a feeling of reassurance as I drove home, that our club is in very good hands. The working relationship between Ben and Gary was there for all to see. All questions were answered, I feel honestly, some of which were perhaps a little awkward. I think Dave Childs deserves a special mention for helping the forum attain a formal and friendly atmosphere with plenty of humour thrown in for good measure ! We are probably a unique club in the football league and I think it is gradually dawning on the fans of what we actually have and are so lucky to have. All we need now is another 1000 or so through the gates on a match day!

It has gone a bit downhill on FB since this morning… Not on Facebook thankfully by the sounds of it. It is though a travesty of justice if people are not recognising the open quality and honesty which was on display for all to see and hear last night. Well done BAFC for a well organised yet simple event which gave us so much to appreciate about our football club.

FB, I have a real life and can think for myself so have no use for this immature site. Well said that man, my sentiments exactly, unfortunately it would appear that it is here to stay . At the forum the club read out questions from both Twitter and Facebook but none of those posted here. This is lazy. For years football clubs in general have regarded forums as pains- they were regarded as rumour mills, spoilers and general a hot bed of trouble makers that meant that could disseminate awkward info. Suddenly, not only has social media become the flavour of the day but people are actually employed by clubs and the press to post on Twitter. And in my opinion what the fans throw back, mostly on the spur of the moment and unconsidered in less than…? characters, are now approved of and even encouraged,by the clubs. On here we do get occasional rogue / idiotic comments but I would like to think the content, though less frequent is of a higher quality. Not only that we have many Guest viewers from other clubs etc and this forum reflects well on the club… a little nod to us at the evening would not have gone amiss.

We're talking apples and oranges here wrt to two sites, but they both fall from similar trees, public forums. FB is 'primarily' a site that is used by younger users who grew up with the technology, it seems this site is used more by their (grand)parents etc. who probably moaned about the new technological advancements (computers) in their initial years. But both sites have informed and uninformed users, both have idiotic comments, both have windups, and both have those who only want to start an argument (much like those who pay their money to go to games to moan). But as a user of both I think overall there is a lot more positivity on the FB site than on this site, perhaps that is down to the number of members on each site. I should note that there are quite a few inane comments made on FB (Rowett Out! for example) that are posted as jokes when we play well or bad and are interpreted by others as being serious. Personally I don't find that type of thing funny but quite a few do.
And yes it is here to stay and the club rightly recognise it as a means of attracting and keeping fans interest. As far as comparing the number of members and guests, this site has 360 members and 330 guests (who are recorded as being guests), whereas the FB site has 1600+ members and an unknown number of guests. As it is a Public Group it 'could' viewed by a million people a day and we wouldn't know anything about it. (well the admin might be able to do some digging and find out have many have viewed it but....it would be a lot).
I don't think having a go the FB site or its users does this forum any favours.

Well having witnessed 1st hand what trouble social media sites or should I say some of there users can cause ( and I am not talking about any brewers page, I am talking about them in general) If I could I would abolish some of them from the face of the earth, unfortunately this is not going to happen so I will just refrain from using them myself and discourage my family from getting too involved with them.

Sorry to hear of your troubles on FB swaddy. I in no way intend to diminish your experience, and we all know that similar disruptive reports occur in all types of media, newpapers, tv, radio etc. We just have to filter out the garbage and lies and see that stuff for what it is. I think a lot of people have witnessed trash talk and nonsense on FB and try to deal with it in their own way in an attempt to ignore it.

It's not in my life. Nor will it ever be . I don't attempt to ignore it. I do ignore it . Don't need it. Don't want it. Won't use it.

The fan's forum really shows what a great club this is and how lucky we are to have such decent, intelligent and clued-in people like Ben, Gary and Kevin running things. I'm always proud to be a Brewer but these events only serve to further justify that pride. Well done Burton Albion FC.

It may well be that the media chap at BAFC is not aware of this site and that he would have checked it for potential questions if he had known of it. Who knows?
However, comparing numbers in isolation is always dodgy ground. Quality outweighs quantity. Otherwise we might as well agree that big crowds and big clubs are entitled to success and that well run "small" clubs like Burton are less worthy.
All kinds of dialogue, online or face to face, have their place and will appeal to different age groups etc. However there will always be a mix of common sense, opinion and divergent views - some of which beggar belief - but such is life.
Just to add I met a Chesterfield fan today, who could not speak highly enough of our club and fans. He said they are all behind Burton's promotion bid and look forward to playing at the Pirelli again soon. Let's hope he is correct.

Let's hope he is correct. 1605 members of the main BAFC group yet how many of them are regular or even infrequent attendees at the Pirelli? As for the overall debate on FB or on here, some sanctimonious stuff from Peacock, yet he blocks me on FB because he cannot stand to have his views and opinions challenged. I'm not the only one btw, once he works out how to do it on here, there may be some more of us/you that be blocked... Anyways, the overall positive of the forum was excellent. The only negative thing all night (and not expressed that way) is the disappointing attendances and that has to be a concern for all of us as our fantastic club continues to improve. What else can be done?
