It is with great sadness that I have been asked to create this thread to mark the passing of former Supporters Club Chairman Peter Thomas ‘Mr Burton’ to me. Peter would be a face known to many around the stadium for home games and at Eton Park previously. He will live on as ‘Mr Burton Albion’ through his wife Barbara and his family. Peter’s funeral is in the Albion Suite on Friday 5th April at 1.30pm, please wear yellow and black in honour of Mr B, Rest in Peace Peter and thanks for being such a great Brewers fan over many years. www.burtonalbionfc.co.uk/news/2024/march/1903-ptIMG_5138.webp (443.17 KB)

I became part of a friendship group with Pete and a few others at the end of the 1980s and I also knew of Pete from working at burton Hospitals where his office was only a hundred yards or so from mine. Towards the end of the Sam Brassington era we, as a group, began to organise matchday fundraising raffles and when Sam sold the club to Jock Gordon we mobilised and created the 1991 version of the Supporters Club with Pete as chairman, myself as Treasurer and the late Ian Lorimer (who designed and created the old mural as you walked into Eton Park and which was painted by Ian's college students). That was a time when the club's finances werent the best and we did everything we could to raise as much money as possible, with Pete at the helm. Fair to say that if I had not become friends with Pete and been involved with the supporters club then I would not now be reflecting on 30+ years of volunteering with the club I love. Pete remained a good friend even after we both finished our time with the supporters club and I know he will be very much missed. I was gutted to hear of his passing when I heard.

Really sorry to hear the news. I met him a number of times through my uncle when I first started going to the Albion back in the 80s and he was always a very nice bloke.

There was a mention in the programme about Stan Round, really big shame there wasn’t anything else on the day though.
