To be honest I think yet again some of us on here need a reality check about where we are at currently. We are a tiny club with the lowest home following in League 1. We could make more money from away fans, but choose not to, out of some sort of misguided loyalty (in my opinion). This morning I went onto Companies House and looked at our last filed accounts from April last year, due again next month. We posted a £449,068 loss on a £5,778,389 turnover and if we can’t increase that through gate receipts or transfer revenue, then we have to cut back by other means. Wages are the obvious one and it looks like we went down that track in January to save around £11k per week (£572,000 annually), which has plunged us into relegation trouble. We are trying to get goals from 3 kids who had never appeared in the EFL before (one of which had struggled at Altrincham in the National League last season) plus the 6ft 9 lad who we were warned is not up to League standard. It was a gamble and one that has not paid off so far, but it could still (just). But perhaps getting out of that loss making situation was important for our future and will enable us to carry on as an EFL club. But I’d reiterate that I don’t believe that this situation is Martin Patterson’s fault, the guy is doing his best to ‘find a way to win (and to score)’. He deserves our support to try to save us and if the worst happens, the chance to build an exciting promotion campaign next season. But in reality surviving in the Football League is probably where we are at currently, not competing like for like with Derby, Bolton, Portsmouth, Blackpool, Peterborough etc We've been in survival mode for the past 3 seasons, what do you suggest Ben does to get more bums on seats? It's not easy admitted but the club in my opinion is going nowhere fast. Bringing his mate back (JFH) was probably the worst decision Ben made, then not bringing in a more experienced manager then has cost him now a possible law suit for compensation. Making cuts here and there have happened to ease the financial burden of basically poor judgement on his part. Announcing season ticket early bird offer pre yesterdays match and TBH even this month or next month is an own goal, wait until the season has ended. After that showing yesterday it's completely off my radar for renewing if it wasn't before.

Portsmouth took 4,000 to Peterborough yesterday, Blackpool 3,000 to Wigan and Bolton 3,000 to Derby all of the bigger clubs would be capable of equaling that and some topping it. Burton is in the centre of the country. Let’s build a bigger ‘Pop Side Stand’, it doesn’t have to be costly or elaborate with boxes etc and use it to sell more away tickets. It could include some safe standing, but 4,000 instead of the usual 1,500 is extra revenue of £62,500 per game and £1,500,000 per season plus beer and food revenue. The 500 or so we get on the Popside can still be accommodated, but let’s pull in our maximum revenue and be able to pay our way more effectively. Get some strikers in that can get us a goal or two.

We all know we haven't got the best squad in the world, and all in all this is probably one of the worst overall we've had for probably over a decade.
You'd think that our L2 winning side, and L1 promotion winning side would absolutely batter this lot.
Saying that we've still got enough to stay up if we play properly and stop being so tactically negative, and play people to their strengths. Something we haven't done for the vast majority of the season. We are setting up like we are petrified of the opposition every week and they are taking full advantage of it.
If we go into next week against Vale with a must not lose mentality, with five at the back and a lone youth striker, you know what will happen. As Annable had said let's at least have a go at it, if we lose we lose, but we're going to go down half arsed at this rate.

To be honest Fred I don’t think the squad is too bad and certainly not the worst. I’d put a tick in the box for: Crocombe Hamer Brayford Hughes Sweeney Moon Seddon Bola Powell Harper Oshilaja Gilligan Carayol Kamwa Bennett We just don’t now have an effective striker.

Also we do have an effective striker in Hugill. I’ve lost count the amount of times he should have been played in(even pointing)with the through ball but chose not to. That’s not his fault. Again Oshilaja is guilty of this and it happens multiple times every game.

This paragraph sums it up for me. We have not set up to be positive and that's the issue I have. I think we have a decent squad. But I think we are going to regret those 3 points we dropped against Carlisle. Also that awful draw against Fleetwood in Dino's time. Those 5 points against bottom teams. Fleetwood away on the last day of the season. That could be interesting/horrible.

Blackman will likely be very rusty which is worrying, and we know earlier in the season he was very wobbly, albeit largely due to our defending being much worse.
Saying that, it's a huge opportunity for him. Even though if he does have a blinder Max will probably come straight back in.

Well Pato has made a comment that the Midfield is an issue which has been suggested from some supporters, but has also said that somebody needs to stand up to the plate to start scorer.....

Hats off to Gary Mills by the way who walked over and chatted to a few disgruntled fans after the game behind the goal.

and if we end up in L2, Conference?. We’d have missed the boat somewhat… and ended up paying for an expensive stand with nobody in it, Can't see it happening with the form over last 3 seasons.
