Stockton has 79 goals in 320 senior appearances (39 scored in League 1). So 1 goal in 4, games, in a stop start career , where he has rarely had a long run at any club. Only more than 100 appearances in one stint for Morecambe out of 6 clubs. 2 if you include both spells at Tranmere. So I wonder what his goals per game ratio is at league 1 level? Thanks for the stats Mikeyboy ๐ I make it in 106 in 413 but the ratio is much the same. Wonder why it's been a stop-start career? www.soccerbase.com/players/player.sd?player_id=63703

[b Thanks Colston, end of the day it's up to him where he plays I guess. MP might give him a fresh start next season or Cole will say he wants away. Let's hope he keeps scoring for Barrow, then he'll be in a positive frame of mind or it'll up his transfer fee?

No strong views on this issue other than that I would prefer to see Cole Stockton playing well in a decent Albion side than not.
On the two occasions I've seen him previously he looked to me the ideal centre forward at this level.
He can play with his back to the goal, he holds the ball up well, you can play the ball into him knowing he will retain possession, he can switch the play and bring others into the game, he creates and so on.
You can manipulate statistics to prove what you want.
I guess if you're not a fan then you would look at his goalscoring record over the long term going back to his days at Tranmere. I think you could say it's not been prolific, if you see him as just a goal scorer.
If you look at his goal scoring record at Morecambe, shorter term and latterly, then Wiki says 52 goals in 153 games. So the goals per game ratio improves.
Another website will tell you that 18 of those 153 were as a sub. So can you say 52 in 135? (Canโt be bothered to delve into the ifs and buts)Then add the 6 in 12 cup games over that period. I would begin to say his goal scoring record is pretty decent.
If you keep moving that statistic over an even shorter period and go online and watch his 4 goals in 6 games at Barrow in the last month or so, everyone a really good goal.....................
Yes Iโd prefer him still with us but heโs played all his football in the North West, he didn't want to play for Maamria, probably got a home southern end of the Lake District and the offer of a buy out and new extended lucrative deal from big money Barrow. Good luck to him.
