Again, a bit like Patrick, this is another what might have been signing and we can't really argue with the loan not being extended. The other thing that hasn't been mentioned with Chapman is his fitness levels. Whilst he had a decent game on Saturday, scored a decent goal, he looked absolutely shattered after 60 minutes bringing into question his ability to last the 90 minutes. Think Maddox is a much better bet for the attacking midfield type role and at least he lasted 90 minutes and actually started looking stronger as the game went on.

Like a good few others, never really got a decent chance. Guess there's a few wanting out to get a game. Whether anyone will take them so it's beneficial to Albion is another question.

Mowbray's comments are telling and JFH is clearly of a similar style, hard work first. He can't be reloaned out within the EFL as he'd played a few for Blackburn, so really has screwed himself by not grasping the opportunity. It's no good just having talent, you need to work hard and make the right decisions.
Disappointing for us as he could've lit up the Pirelli, will be interesting to see where he ends up after his contract runs out in the summer.

I'm sure CBH can tell me about the regs but if Blackburn were to release him, could be join someone else? * No, he can only play for two clubs in the season apparently.

That’s right Colston.
There is, a somewhat restrictive, rule that says a player can only play for two clubs over the course of a season. Having made a few appearances for Blackburn before joining us that precludes him playing for another club this season, either on loan or as a free agent.
Shame really. When he signed I thought we had a real ‘wow’ signing given his form at Shrewsbury last season but he just hasn’t hit those heights for us.

One could argue that he hasn't hit those heights because he hasn't been playing week-in-week-out as he (probably) was for Shrewsbury. Another reason why he probably struggled for more than 60 minutes. Of course we don't know what goes on behind the scenes, but we do see that the team has not been settled all season (appreciate the start was somewhat beset with injuries). Hopefully JFH has a creative player lined up to replace, and he can/will put out a more stable team going forward ..

Have in fact updated the article after talking to JFH. While the six-month loan HAS ended, the technicality does remain that a new loan with Burton could happen before the end of the January window. Chapman has played for two clubs this season, so can't play for a third.

Off the bench for his debut.... then six starts in the next seven games, only one of which we won.

There seems to be a common theme amongst these posts re departing players. They have not been given a decent run, in a settled side, in their best position, playing a style of football that suits their game.
I saw Chapman on Saturday latch on to a perfectly weighted through ball down the left channel (we haven't seen many of them!), he cut inside and accelerated past two defenders, drew the keeper and cheekily chipped him. Best goal of the season thus far.
I suspect Joe Powell will be the next to depart!?

It’s so easy to be critical of what’s been achieved in a year and the incredible progress made. It seems some would trade what Jimmy and Dino have achieved to be back in the Buxton era - adrift at the bottom of the division. Let’s not forget.

Chapman was re-called by Blackburn, according to Jimmy it is possible he may return at the end of the window.
