I knew him from the Pop Side when I wasn't reporting but since I've been back reporting for several years, he may well latterly have sat.  If the Brewers were playing in the north-west, within reasonable reach of where he lived, Mike would get in touch to check which pub we'd be aiming for pre-match and turn up. A good bloke
