Parker is a nutjob, glad we've binned him off.

There are plenty of links regarding Daniel Jebbison signing on a season long loan but not seen anything yet on a "no 10", maybe Jimmy has something up his sleeve ?

Chapman is in as #10
Jebbison on loan until end of season
And I'm hearing that the other is a CB 👀

I think if Jebbison signs obviously that will be the last of our business. It would obviously demote Hemmings, although I think he could do a good job as a second striker given his quick feet on the ball.... but saying that we have Powell, the new signing from Blackburn Chapman, and Maddox when he's back who are all No10's so that kinda rules that one out
And if we play 2 up top we can't play a No10! Interesting times haha.

This has been a remarkable transfer window for us and the squad is as big as I can ever remember it and I just hope that Ben has got his sums right as the wage bill must be high. I sense a change in strategy here where we are signing on lots of young players with lots to prove and putting them on 2 or 3 year contracts. The hope must be that one or two attract interest from clubs above us who will maybe pay decent fees and we then reinvest from there. An element of planning for the future I might suggest whilst also remaining competitive on the pitch. Perhaps a different way of doing it from when NC was in charge where it felt very much about dealing with the here and now and being able to put a team out on Saturday and not worrying too much about what followed after that. Whilst that strategy certainly worked and got us high up the leagues there was always an element of restarting again at the end of the season as people fell out of contract and went elsewhere.
I think in terms of this season then expectations should/will increase and I can't imagine all these players have been signed on with a view to treading water in mid table. I would imagine Ben will be expecting a top half finish now as a minimum given the investment made with perhaps one big sale in the summer to recoup some of the outlay.
Interesting to see how this pans out and we just need everybody fit now please! Even more remarkable given the last 18 months of little/no income and coming out of the pandemic. We have to have been the most active team out there in the lower leagues.

Well that was a transfer window to remember ! Jimmy got his main target in Daniel Jebbison which means we will actually be able to play a striker. Harry Chapman and Charlie Lakin are also very good midfielders who will give us a different dynamic to what we already have. Sam Hughes is still injured at the moment so i see that more as a longer term situation regarding a permanent signing when his Leicester City contract expires. I have no worries about the size of the squad or budget. The reason being we have a very shrewd manager in Jimmy and assistant in Dino and above that we have Ben who has never ever done anything to put this clubs future in jeopardy and never will. When you look at the quality in the squad when all the players are fit then i think we can compete with the best in this league. The areas we needed strengthening have been addressed.
I'm confident and optimistic

I think we (most of us anyway) can see that we have potential to push on under JFH/Dino and I guess Ben can see and feel that too. On the playing front and on the building of a fan base as well. I thought that the support for the team was remarkable on Friday night - with a heathy gathering in the West and non stop chanting and support and the other two home ends chipping in too. A complete contrast to the library that we had under Nigel. This feels like the right strategy - ridding ourselves of the ‘little Burton Albion’ tag to some extent and pushing on a bit. Underpinned by young hungry players who want to be part of it. We have been unlucky so far with injuries but it’s good to see Ben backing his managers and being caught up in it like a fan. Fingers crossed we can recover from this blip and be back to our very best soon.

The way we have done things over the past 25 years have worked exceptionally well and got us to where we are. Relatively speaking we are still a fairly new club in football league terms and have managed to establish ourselves. Time to move on though and take that next step to grow the club.

There could still be some outgoings. Apparently there’s a ruck of transfers and loan deals still pending as the EFL goes over the fine print.
I’d be surprised if we don’t see some players leave one way or another because according to the official site we’ve now got 39 pros on the books. There’s 6 academy lads who signed pro in the summer. Not sure if there’s a window where we can still loan to non league clubs but as good as it is for these lads to be around the first team they need to be playing competitive footie.
It is worth noting that late last night the club tweeted a quote from Jimmy thanking Ben for his substantial backing in this window. All Jimmy and Ben need now is the backing of the people of Burton and we’re cooking.

I'm sure we can still loan players out to non league clubs , not sure if we have to wait seven days before doing any business , I know it was like that at one time , or we can loan them out straight away . I'm sure Ian (CBH) will be able to give us the definitive answer on that .

I'm sure Ian (CBH) will be able to give us the definitive answer on that . There is still the ability to loan players to the Conference/National League and below so I would expect some of the young lads to head on out now to build their experience. I think that the seven day post transfer window freeze was in the days when you could still do ‘emergency’ loans outside of the transfer window so not so sure that it is a thing any more. Have to say I am delighted with the business done, particularly last night. If Chapman recreates his Shrewsbury form of last season we have a hell of a player. Shrewsbury fans are absolutely fuming that he hasn’t gone back there. I have had a hunch that Sam might come back for a few weeks now. Admittedly it was based on the fact that, speaking to some of the Leicester press the other week, they didn’t think he had signed a new deal and I thought he might come to get fit and get a deal. Think we are going to have to wait a few weeks to see him back again but that’s ok. If it leads to a permanent deal down the line I’m fine with that. On Jebbison. When were we last a player’s choice over Sunderland or a move to Everton???!!! Lakin,I don’t know anything about to be fair. Three year deal? Sounds a bit daft to say it but only really the same as the likes of Smith and Hamer signing 2.5 year deals in January really. Suspect if we’d signed those lads in a summer window it would have been three years too. With players coming back to fitness there are some interesting selection dilemmas ahead for JFH and Dino.

I'm wondering if the income from the Sky games has allowed us to complete our last day deals. A month ago we expected to play Cheltenham on a Sunday then we get 2 games on TV. Money not budgeted for has become available without eating in to the original club budget.

Money not budgeted for has become available without eating in to the original club budget. Not sure on that one. I can only find figures for 2018 which showed that League One teams got £30k for a home televised fixture and £10k for an away fixture. Whilst it is still £40k in the pot I am not sure how much it would have influenced the dealings on Tuesday. Would certainly have been a help and may have helped get one of the deals over the line. My guess, and I think JFH alluded to it in the Radio Derby interview he did a few weeks ago at the Mickleover game, is that if things are going well then January will be very quiet on the incomings front as the major overhaul was planned for the two transfer windows just gone and we may only see a couple coming in. I do think we may see two or three leaving as well as the squad and team settles down and some players perhaps struggle for game time. That may well allow scope then for the half season deals just done to be extended to the end of the season if the manager sees fit or do fresh loan deals for the second half of the season.

I think you are correct there, I can remember something along those lines in an interview. Barring any more serious injuries occuring between now and January we should have enough players to put two teams out !

Thierry Latty-Fairweather has joined Grantham Town on a months loan in time for their FA Cup game at Nantwich this afternoon. Callum Hawkins is already at Mickleover on loan. I expect we’ll see similar movement out of the first team squad for some of the other academy lads in the coming weeks. They need to be playing competitive footie and the Northern Prem isn’t a bad place to start.
