Great to be looking forward to games with some expectation again - tho' this will be a test I'm sure.....the best manager they've had for a while I'd say, new owners, a passage to the Papa Johns final after last night's win on penalties over League Leaders Lincoln and no doubt a feeling they can secure a promotion spot before the end of the season...

Not a good record against little old Burton though.

A nice little pre match piece from the Sunderland Chronicle . www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/lee-johnson-burton-albions-false-19866430Not that it makes it any easier to cope with if we lose but I have to say say that Lee Johnson is a manager who I like and respect and is a cut above there merry go round of management that they have had over the years. I always dislike playing against a team who we have a good record against as much as those who we have a bad one (Fleetwood) let's hope our run continues as three points is what I hope for from this game.

I’m tempted to say this is a “must win” game, although I dislike the phrase and expect many would argue that it isn’t. I agree that it doesn’t matter where the points we need come from as long as we get them, but I think these 3 points (should we achieve that) would be particularly important. We have 2 games in hand over the teams just above us and a win COULD take us out of the relegation zone (or at least lift us off the bottom). I think that changes things mentally for the team - seeing that tangible progress in addition to results on the pitch and the sooner we see that realistically happen, the more chance we can sustain it. I still think it would be highly unlikely that we stay up this season, but a win tomorrow would tip me towards being slightly more optimistic.

I'd settle for a draw and other relegation teams losing.

I'd settle for a draw and other relegation teams losing. Totally agree. For me Aiden McGeady is the best player in this league by a long way. Inexplicably frozen out by Phil Parkinson but brought back into the team by Lee Johnson and now has 2 goals and 8 assists in 12 league games. Then there’s Charlie Wyke. 13 goals in 14 games since Lee Johnson took charge. They’ll pose way more threat than Hull did who are the only other “top” team we’ve faced since our overhaul. If everyone is 100% “on it” and we get fair officials then I’m confident we get a result. No room for passengers tomorrow though.

Do these people not remember any of the last five times we've played them?
Would take a point but oh how I would love to beat them so we can all witness another mackem meltdown.

My apologies to Jane Austin, but I can’t but help observe that...
It is a truth universally acknowledged a once big club (always regarded by the media and fans as a BIG club ) is constantly in want of a promotion... no matter how much money is thrown around.
Do I also hear distant sound of bleating Rams?
Seriously, it does annoy me that the big club tag lasts seemingly forever, but as to our recent results against them the memory becomes in distinct.
We lack many things in this club, but I still think we do have is humility.

Starting 11 unchanged from last week at Northampton. Only change is on the bench with Fondop replacing Varney.

At this stage I’d definitely take a point

At this stage I'd take a shot on target, to be fair I think we've had one blocked.

Unlucky to not have got a goal but ulitimately this is what happens without a proper striker up front.

Shame Hayden didnt deck that arsehole O'Brien Afraid Earl raised his hand (got him by the throat) and the lines woman saw that. I agree O'Brien started the pushing, second yellow for ours did it.
