When does the season start? Sept 12th – we know the answer to that question but…. …..here’s a few questions I don’t know the answers to…
When will supporters be able to attend games? How many fans will that be? Just Home fans?
If masks have to be worn and social distancing practised (1 or 2 meters?) How many could we get in? 1000? More? Less? Is it financially viable on such low gates? Paid stewards still required presumably to ensure guidance followed.
If no fans ….till when? Till there’s a vaccine? All season? However long the wait, is it financially viable for BAFC to pay players to play football up and down the land twice a week in the meantime ….where’s the income coming from? There’s talk today of pubs and restaurants having to close again to allow schools to open in September…..where does that leave crowd events?
Sorry I’m not sounding more optimistic with Jake/Ben quietly going about the preparations/making new signings…
September 12th …..5 weeks on Saturday is it? Friendlies in a couple of weeks perhaps?
Oh!..... and when is the fixture list published…?
Questions…. Questions …...mirror, mirror on the wall who has the answers….?

I think the answer is unfortunately, that no one knows. EFL are not currently saying
what is definite is there will be no fans before 1st October
numbers of fans - its probably easier in all seater stadia where you can label up seats that can be sat in, and others than cannot be used. to maintain "social distance"
terraces - how do you make people stand 2 metres apart? almost impossible even if there are only 50 people behind the goal, chances are they'll stand together with their mates.....

30% of capacity seems to be a rumoured number which is probably about our average gate anyway? But who knows if away fans are allowed to attend or not.
I guess it’ll be a lot harder to do social distancing in terraces but let’s say they do boxes on the floor for us to stand in, how many stewards are we going to need to make sure people are sticking to the boxes, and also how strict are the stewards going to be?

Saw something earlier today (think it was on Mailonline? But can’t find it now) that said football authorities are looking at League cup and EFL Trophy matches in September for test pilot events to have some fans attending. One to look out for maybe?

Whatever the social distancing protocols and timing I think it's the possibility of low attendances that would hurt clubs like ours.
It seems to me that the age profile of lower league and non-league supporters is older. Many of them will be wary about attending.
Also, for me a big part of going to our level is being with your mates to share the highs and lows of the match. That's not really going to be the case under any new rules.

Can't see anyone in their right mind going to a sporting event in forseeable future, whatever the precautions I can. Way safer watching sport outside than it is eating or drinking inside in a pub Based on the Rochdale Q and A. I reckon Pirelli should be safe for about 1500 ish fans spread around the stadium Without away fans that enough space for everyone to be safe IMO And our games won't trouble the government due to travel etc I think it works as well for BAFC as it will for any club

Can't see anyone in their right mind going to a sporting event in forseeable future, whatever the precautions With social distancing, I don't see a problem at the Pirelli. My ticket is in the West Stand and I usually watch the game in a nice space by myself - I rarely shower before a game... With no away supporters, I personally have no qualms about going. At the smaller clubs, it'll be easier. I wouldn't fancy standing on a crowded terrace but that's unlikely at the Pirelli. I don't think my attitude is particularly gung-ho. For instance, there's no way you'd get me into a crowded gig, bouncing up and down with 1000 other Little Mix fans. Joking. And I'm not sure I'd fancy the London underground. Not even a full Anfield. But the Pirelli will be much easier to deal with. For me, anyway. Every fan will have their own feelings about this, though won't they? Count me in, Sir Ben.

Wait and see if the snooker crowd from the Crucible have any fall out (virus symptoms) I reckon we'll need to register our details before every match to know if you've attended, already have it though if you have tickets I guess?
I'd be happy to go but with care obviously. Last time I went in a pub/bar was 5th March, not keen just yet to go in one.

I generally agree with that.
Toilets, concourses, bars at the ground and travelling in shared cars, buses, trains etc are all applicable.
I still firmly believe that Cheltenham went ahead because scientists looked at outdoor spaces and thought 'this will be okay', without any concept of the reality of the pub, bar, travel, dinner, buffet culture.

At the snooker they didn't wear masks to watch seated, I do believe they were asked to wear masks if they moved from the seats to other parts of the building. Suppose in the concourses/foyer and maybe toilets, no bars open apparently.
Anyway that was regs I suppose for that venue, on trial. I wonder any food points or indeed the bars will be open if and when fans are allowed in at footy grounds.
Any regs for numbers allowed at the SSC say on match day Ian?

Ban away fans and we can move fans into the away terrace also. Comfortably fit 3000 in with plenty of space around. We need to move on otherwise football will implode very quickly

I read something about a large non-league clubhouse where 100 people could legally and safely have a socially-distanced drink.
Then they weren't allowed to go outside into a much bigger open space and watch their club play a pre-season friendly. Work that one out.....
I've been in several pubs, to eat and to drink, big and small. Personally, I feel safe. Every one of those places has been very careful and cheerfully strict. Respect anyone who doesn't want to go. But, very personal opinion, I do think some people are determined never to venture out again if it might mean their apocalyptic predictions might be proved wrong.

It is not regulations but we have 43 pages of guidance, each venue has to work through them and apply them to their venue. So we should be able to allow people to visit pre and post game, but numbers will be much lower and based on seating safely available. No vertical drinking.

Football's issues won't be caused at stadiums
It will be a rise in Covid full stop that causes lockdowns that football gets dragged into

I know what you mean, we have family in other parts of the country and are of the same mind set. We cancelled our holiday this year, it was in the UK, at the time we didn't know where all this was going. In hindsight we could have still gone but there would have been limitations, what's open, booking eateries (can we just turn up?) it was a touring holiday. We are getting out and about just not done any dining/drinking out yet .
