Some of the comments go like this...
"He was quick to resign at Burton to save them money"
Unbelievable and laughable.🤬

Don't think that would be a good move for Nige i would think Middlesbrough where there is a decent ownwer that would give him time.

I think Birmingham would appeal to him with it being reasonably close to home and an easy commute. In fairness he has never had a managerial job that has meant a house move so this fits the bill in that respect. I know Twitter is not necessarily a site that gives balanced views but there's lots of negative comments about him being linked and very few positive ones so he would be up against it straight away.
The other link is with Bolton which would be less attractive.
Strange him being linked with the two clubs that cheated financially whilst we were in the Championship! As the saying goes, if you can't beat them, join them!

As the saying goes, if you can't beat them, join them! I got wind of the Birmingham link through a journalist mate of mine and while my first reaction is "poor owner, don't touch them with a barge pole" someone is going to get it right with Birmingham at some point and there's no denying the size or potential of the club. It would give him the opportunity to manage a club with tradition and a fan base. Bolton is less attractive right now but they are one of those clubs who could go through a couple of divisions quickly once they build some momentum. He'd certainly out them back on an even footing and would fix their cheating financially. They'd get 15000 fans in League two, that gives them a massive head start and would automatically help their league one campaign as well. Boro? Gibson seems to be almost blindly loyal to Woodgate, I can't see why but he is. Nigel would be a more suitable fit and with what they will no doubt need to do to cut costs and bring through kids, it would be a great job. do I see him getting it? No, do I want him to get it, yes. Sunderland would still be my first choice for him but there's no way he'll go for an interview at a club where there is a manager in place. They'd have to fire Parkinson before he'd even talk to them and even then I'm not sure he'd talk to them. I heard they'd interviewed him before Parky got the job, told him he was "their man" then didn't even show up for a meeting they'd arranged. Again that's come from someone connected to Sunderland and I've no idea if true or not. Hell probably end up at now of those and a real out of the blue club. For him, as said above the owner is critical, which is why the Brum link is surprising. In terms of owners I'd choose either Gibson at Boro or Winkleman at MK Dons. Whether either of those jobs come up or not is a different matter. I'm not sure there's a fanbase anywhere in the country who would be glowingly positive about him but that's down to lack of knowledge of his inner workings. Nice to see him linked anywhere really, at least he's in the mix. Any set of fans who genuinely want to see young homegrown talent come through their ranks would be lucky to have him.

Someone did get it right at Birmingham but they axed him three and a half years ago. Brink of the play offs on one of the lowest wage bills in the Championship and Rowett got sacked in favour of a bigger name and mate of the owner. That’s why I hope Nigel doesn’t get that job but to be fair if he doesn’t go to a bigger club for fear of getting f**ked over then he’d might as well retire now.

I would probably be proved wrong, my guess he wouldn't want to move (home) in order to secure a job and is looking for an easy travel daily.
Birmingham fits the bill on his terms or he'll keep looking.

I don't think location will come into it at all.

Horrible club, horrible fans.
If he does go there it will be a terrible mistake.

My hope here is that Boro want Warnock to baby sit them until the end of the season, if he keeps them up (which he should) brilliant, if they go down, the new manager wouldn't be tarred as the one who got them relegated. Room for Nige in the next few months? Woodgate has been a disaster. My thoughts are that for some reason Gibson doesn't fancy Nigel.

He's from Derbyshire, good enough as he has an axe to grind with Derby Co.

Nigel not for Birmingham either, they've just appointed Aitor Karanka.
