Bit quiet on here so thought would start a guessing game off
Players contracted - Garrett, Buxton, o toole, Hutchinson, Powell, Edwards, Akins. (7)
Offer contracts - Brayford, Quinn, Wallace, Fox, sarkic, Thomas (6)
Release everyone else
Possible signings - frank fielding, Connor shaugnessey, Omar beccles, Ben Pringle, George Thorne, jaques maghoma, Luke Murphy, Jamie Murphy, Michael Jacobs, Danny graham, David Nugent, Eoin Doyle, Chris Porter (4 out of 12 be good)
Loans (3) would try Nartey and broadhead again if possible
Obviously depending on finances this would give us a strong looking squad. Coyb

Fox is already under contract for next season, as is Callum Hawkins.
With the precarious nature of finances when all this ends most of those players listed would not be affordable prior to the crisis so I highly doubt they will be affordable once we come out of this.
Much will depend on what Jake’s contact book is like and whether we look for experienced players or go for young players with a bit of potential from non league etc.
Would like to see Quinn, Wallace and Sarkic stay and I think we will see one or two academy products promoted through to the squad.

Cleetus, I think you have experienced a bit of what people call Blue Sky Thinking.
Frank Fielding, Ben Pringle, George Thorne, Jaques Maghoma, Luke Murphy, Jamie Murphy, David Nugent, Chris Porter. Even before the pandemic, I don't think we could have afforded any of these players.
Conor Shaunessey might sign - Bucko could take him under his wing as a fellow centre half. I think the rest will be academy players. Nigel always has 2 or 3 lined up. I suggested a very bare team on another thread a month ago. Let me find it....(see below in red) - we need a striker. By that, I dont mean a 20 goal a season man. I mean someone who is cheap enough to play for the Brewers up front - to play in Chris Beardsley's 'place'. Sh*t, it's depressing - no disrespect to the players below.
An extra thought: If we keep the cheapest players* (sorry, lads) who are out of contract 30th June, we line up in the next league game as such:
GK Ben Garret (or Martin Taylor?) DF John-Joe, Reece, Ben Fox* & Jevan Anderson* MD Joe Powell, Ryan Edwards, Joe Sbarra* & Ethan Vale* FW Lucas & Chris Beardsley (who will possibly still have a job at the club)
Pushing the boat out - Ben Hart & Jack Livesey (GK) as subs
I suppose there is one thing none of us laymen know: what is the new 'acceptable' wage? I was informed that journeyman nobodies used to command 7 or 8 grand a week. That was the old world. At least other teams are in the same boat - or worse.
I don't think there's going to be many signings this summer. I really, really hope I'm wrong. Sorry to be the downer.

I would push the boat out to get Wallace. Purely because he can play anywhere. Where's Tom Naylor when you need him? Quinny might sign cos he's at the end of his career and might take a cut just to get another season out of those old legs. Ditto Brayford?

From Mark Palios’s interview on the Sophie Ridge show, on Sky this morning, 1400 players will be out of contract in June, so we will have plenty of choice and very few will get fixed up quickly. So the pendulum may swing in the favour of the clubs at this point. Some clubs will be forced into Administration to get through but most will have a chance of continuing in some form. I still believe our ground may be our biggest limiting factor, but hope I am wrong.

There will be plenty of players that will drop down and are willing to take a pay cut just to get fixed up with a club and play, I don’t think all of those players are out of our price range. Ben will have measures in place to make sure we will be alright, I think we will actually be in a strong position compared to most league 1 clubs plus the salary cap could come in etc. So no blue sky thinking whatsoever, football will change at our level and you will be surprised what players we will still be able to attract/get. Sorry forgot you were the font of all knowledge 😂

However, before I read the last sentence of your message, I was thinking that you may well be right, for reasons that you, me and Ian pointed out. Mikeyboy's post above also hits the nail on the head. No one knows. Hopefully we'll get a few older players (like Quinn) who just want to play football. I hope you're right, just like I wrote (read my message again) that I hope I am wrong. Peace & Love xx

Yes we’re all burton, peace and love and all that jazz.
Once a decision has been made on this season it will all hopefully be much clearer, just saying I think we will be surprised and a lot of footballers out that have integrity some older decent players will be happy to be just playing and will hopefully have earned themselves a nice nest egg over the years for it not to bother them. There are of course those who are totally the opposite and will try and hold out for the biggest paydays. Interesting times ahead
