thanks for sharing that Bancroft pal. I wasn't going to as I think I've bored you all senseless with it for years. Daniel Taylor has done a great job. I've got tears in my eyes and I know the story better than most ;-)

Anyone want to copy and paste the text to here π? You can sign up for a free trial and then cancel it after 7 days. I know it's not ideal being behind a paywall but I feel it was worth it to work with someone of Daniel Taylor's caliber and reputation. theathletic.co.uk/checkout?pc=raf40&plan_id=45&shared_by_name=Craig&shared_by=3307092(failing that DM me your email address and I'll see what I can do - cut and pasting won't be an option on a public forum pal, sorry!)

What is your problem? Christ. Very few people share pay walled articles on forums, because it's effectively "marketing". Cheers for the offer Broomo - is it similar to the article a few years ago in the Daily mail?

Cheers for the offer Broomo - is it similar to the article a few years ago in the Daily mail? I'd say it's much more in depth, it's the same story as it's the same story but it's got a lot of the early part of the book quoted and DT really has done a good job. Just to clarify, even though I probably don't need to. Even though it's behind a paywall, I HAVE NOT BEEN PAID for the article, nor did I ask for any cash. I won't try to profit from the book and I won't over encourage anyone to sign up to read the article. It's a nice read.

That is correct, I read on a train and on Tamorth station this morning, a couple of tears shed. A simple but remarkable story involving a number of remarkable people. I knew bits, but know a lot more now. Kenny Swain, who would have thought it?

I knew bits, but know a lot more now. Kenny Swain, who would have thought it? I'm honestly delighted with it Ian and the best part is somehow Daniel Taylor has made that interesting and sad and happy enough WITHOUT giving away too much. There's a lot in there but he's only just scratched the surface of each little bit he's told. There's so much more to come. The response has been incredible but I'm also nervous and care enough to really worry what Nigel, Simon and Elizabeth will make of it. It's a story they don't need to have told. They already know how special brian and Mrs C were. It's also not the full story by any stretch and I'm worried about the reaction to the whole book. Still, it's been really nice to see such an overwhelmingly positive response.

I get that concern, but it is a genuine story that is heart-warming and sad.
It is a gloriously big thank you that we feel we can all enjoy.

What a brilliant read. You can't imagine it happening these days without people being cynical but it shows what a great man Brian Clough was. Thanks for posting.

I've only encountered BC (if encounter is the correct term) on a few occasions that was before he became a regular at our matches. It was in my teenage years, that left a small but everlasting memory with me wherever he's managed whatever he's said or done, one of the best.
