When you look at some or the managers who have got big jobs over the last couple of years I'm amazed Nigel hasn't been approached at some point.
Even just looking at his work in the transfer market where he's made a profit on his dealings at all 3 clubs he's worked at.
Both Sheffield United and Derby still have players on their books who Nigel signed for nowt and who have gone on to be huge players for them.
Hell even just for signing Che Adams for 300k from non league he's wiped out his entire career spend in one fell swoop right there.
I read a couple of threads on the Sunderland forum and the reaction is mixed. Some thinking he'd be a perfect fit while others think his sides play dull and "turgid" football.
I hate that word, it's usually thrown around by idiot fans who can't see the end of their noses never mind what makes a decent side. Whoever thinks we play poor football clearly has zero understanding of the game.
I personally think his rebuild this time around is a better job than when he took us up and I can't see how other top league one or bottom half Champ clubs haven't spotted that.
Still, as long as it stays that way and he stays with us, I'm delighted with that.
Sacking season is in full flow and I'll be slightly nervous every time a manager goes that Ben's phone will ring.
I am of course totally biased but I thank our lucky stars he's our manager and he works under the conditions he works under.
We are contenders this season, it may take until January for our league table to take shape with all of the games in hand we have but we are a top 6 side in this division
That fact alone is astonishing when you consider our size and finances.

And for me Nigel has a better pedigree than all of them. Really? Some of them fair enough but you can't honestly believe that Nigel has a better pedigree than Hughton? Has done well at big clubs and was successful with Brighton in the premier League. Hughton = Newcastle after Keegan inherited some players there==lasted just over a season sacked. Hughton=Birmingham left them to manage Norwich in a higher league, lasted just about a season Hughton=Norwich premier league lasted 2 seasons. Hughton=Brighton in 2014 sacked in 2919,only won 3 of their last 23 league games Hughton has managed 4 big clubs and only Brighton have kept him for a reasonable time nearly 5 years.,so only been a manager for 9 years.and all with top clubs with massive fan base,3 were in the championship, with a healthy budget, To mention him in the same breath as our Nigel is putting Clough in a big charlie league, ,thinking that Hughton would manage Burton Albion in their prime which is were we are. ,how much would he hope to achieve with a 3000 fan base, and struggling to sell tickets, against premier league Leicester,Who now expect European football next year. In football Burton Albion start from the top==Nigel Clough and the smallest of budgets

Clough and Hughton are very good managers. Both un-fashionable for different reasons. Hughton gets my vote if I have to choose between the two.

The relative a available resource is a factor.

It is imperfect, however as close as you will get given relative size and situation of the clubs in the league they were in.

It is imperfect, however as close as you will get given relative size and situation of the clubs in the league they were in. Newcastle with Andy Carrol=Kevan Nolan=Krull=Barton=Butt=Guthrie=Inman=Routeledge=Levandrans= Ameobi=Leon best=Alan Smith, Carrol moved on for 33 million,so no comparison to Burton Albion. Birmingham 2011/12 finished 4th in the championship==Derby finished 12th=====11 points adrift. Birmingham 2012/13 playing in the Championship. Derby 2012/13 playing in the Championship, no promotion for both clubs Birmingham 2012/13 finish 12th Hughton left in June after 1 season career move Derby 2012/13 finish 10th Clough still at Derby loyalty scores for me Brighton in 2014 a club in the Championship Hughton secured promotion to the Premier league in his 3rd season. Sheff Utd a league 1 club in the relegation places,,finish 7th and 5th in the league, while reaching the FA cup semi final,,,,and the League cup semi final.in 18 months under Clough. Both have been successful managers,in their own right, under very different circumstances. Nigel Clough is grass roots, and Chris Houghton does not do lower league clubs. 3 in the Premier League, and 3 in the Championship. Clough==Burton Albion==Derby County==Sheff Utd Hughton--Newcastle==Birmingham==Norwich=Brighton

When you look at the names linked and confirmed interest from their chairman.
Stendel ex Barnsley Mark Robins (signed a contract extension today to fend off interest) Gareth Ainsworth.
If that's the calibre or manager they are interviewing then I'd be shocked if they didn't at least pick up the phone to Ben.
Thankfully he seems to not be everyone's cup of tea. Not bull shitting and smooching enough.
