Whilst we're on the subject of recent ex players it's probably also worth commiserating with former players Luke Murphy, Matty Lund and Hope Akpan who were all relegated with their respective clubs this season. Back to back relegations on your CV not ideal although it's probably more about the money than anything else.
We wish all our former players well but the grass is not always greener elsewhere although your bank balance is probably healthier!
Advantage John Mac and Tom F after the narrow win tonight but I'm sure they'll be more drama in the return leg.

Must say it is nice to see so many that have played for the Brewers playing in such high profile games. Walker=Turner=Naylor=Flanagan=Mclaughlin=Bennett. who would have thought it

Very sad for Ben Turner, Alex Mac and Tyler Walker. I hope that Mansfield go again next season and get up.

A top 3 budget club losing to a bottom 3 budget club though - proving its not all about money. Contrary to rumour.

I actually wanted Mansfield to go up as it would have been an easy trip for us next season but not to be.

Not a good comparison mikeyboy, there is only 3-000 difference in capacity of the stadiums and 1-400 in average attendance. I agree mansfield have spent 2 million more on players, and in a small way Mansfield are the bigger club. i respect your posts but worry when Mansfield is classed has a big club. Burton Albion have to take clubs with club10-000 fan base has a equal in league 1 and your view has merit to most of us. But we have posters who demand results against=Sunderland=Portsmouth=Ipswich=Bolton=Charlton=Bradford=Coventry.==Clubs that can attract 20 to 30 thousand fans . So stating money don't count feeds their view ,that the Brewers deserve championship football, leading perhaps to the premier league, because money does not make a team. and we expect Burton Albion to perform, and the manager should move onto the next level.Or the chairman should do his job and sack him. royston is still with us,and Turner has now found a progressive club.

I was just going on what was said in the commentary Trev. Mansfield are moving forward again after years of being badly run and it’s good to see. I was trying to make the point however that players leaving us rarely better their experience at Burton Albion.

Being the club we are, we would never hold back a player of potential if we should sign someone of ability beyond our club position. .Players that come to mind are Brailsford and Magoma and more recently Irvine; not forgetting our manager when Derby wanted him. I'm sure there are others. Of course the grass is not always greener but one has to take the chance when it arrives.

Well Turner and Walker have left the playoffs ,Nice to see o,brien has got to Wembley with Newport he had serious heart problems while at Derby under Clough a irish lad only 16, Lovely to see he is still playing, It seems like Forest Green under Terry coopers lad, find it hard to finish with 11 players. Still have Mcloughlin=Naylor=Flanagan=Bennet. Who have called home the Pirelli.

I believe we only just missed out on getting Mason Bennett on a season long loan last season and that he wanted to come. It makes you wonder if he could have just edged us into the play offs ourselves.

I don't think he would have made a huge difference, not to that extent anyway, and also it probably would have meant Marcus Harness didn't get the chance he got in the second half of the season so it's swings and roundabouts I guess. One player I wouldn't mind trying to get back is Tyler Walker. Great season for Mansfield and from listening to a few Forest fans they don't think he is up to playing top half Championship so maybe a full season in League One would be good for his development.
