The Mail says we have Joachin a Luxembourg striker on trial with us. He is without a club and has played in the Dutch top flight as well as for Luxembourg. Be interesting to see what happens during the next few days.

Scored against Belgium, Northern Ireland and Russia at international level in the past few years. Could be a bit of a find.

Would be a huge signing if it came to anything.

He'll have plenty of other options in Europe I'm sure, so Burton would have to offer him a decent deal to move over here. He looks like an exciting option if we can afford him.

That is good news. It should fill the squad gap I reckon.

Great news that.
Right then. Here's one for you...are we the first ever English league club to sign a Luxembourg international footballer?

I am puzzled by the Mail saying "subject to international clearance". I assumed if he can play for Luxembourg he must be member of the European community, with a European passport, and therefore able to work anywhere in Europe. JFH has stated he is available for selection on Saturday, so to me this means he is already fine to play. Any comments?

All that means is that his Football registration will be in the country he last played in (Bulgaria) so through FIFA/UEFA his registration has to be transferred to the English FA. Believe it or not, when players join English clubs from Welsh or Scottish clubs, because it is a different Football Associstion a similar process is required. We would have had to do it for Calum Butcher, Timmy Thiele, Nasser and Kelvin.

JFH has stated he is available for selection on Saturday, so to me this means he is already fine to play. Any comments? It's a basic procedure in country to country transfers... International clearance: clearance required from foreign or overseas football associations before the transfer of a player can be completed where that player is moving across national or international borders.[167]

Thanks for the explanation regarding his international clearance. In my mind I was confusing it with a foreign player requiring clearance to allow him to come and play here.
