The source of this rumour "The Sun". That's all you need to know in all honesty. Next up will be West Ham, Brentford and any other club in the top 2 divisions without a gaffer. Just get used to it and take it with a pinch of salt. I wouldn't wipe my backside with the said named paper even if I was desperate, its a junk/garbage publication.

Di Mateos just resigned from Shalke 04 after getting them into the Europa League. And Karl Robinson is rumoured for the Blades

Terraceman is right I'm afraid. Just like the Cloughie era, any vacancy coming up in the Championship or Premiership, JFH will be linked with. Even if the papers have no real news, they will print it as it is quite possibly correct, because of his very good image over such a short time scale. We have to live with it.

The only club called Sheffield are the one that plays in Dronfield and they do not have a vacancy. There is Sheffield Wednesday and the other lot.

I thought the Newcastle manager had to be a Geordie, or have recent events changed minds about that one? Oh, and as for the Sun as a source, maybe somebody left JFH a message on his voicemail.

To be fair they are all very attractive jobs. Normally jobs at clubs like this only come up following relegation Watford just got rid of their manager as well I wouldn't want JFH to go but if he gets the chance and takes it then we have a ready made management team with Nigel that I would be delighted to take tbh The fact is we know we are going to lose JFH if he does well whereas I could see Nigel staying with us for a few years if he came back So I have a bit of an open mind on all of this purely because Nigel is available

IMO, JFH is going nowhere yet. I believe he will manage us through next season at least. As for Cloughie, after Derby and Sheffield, he would have to take a huge pay cut to come back here. When Jimmy does move on I can't, and don't want, to see Cloughie back. I.don't think Ben will look back, I think he will continue to find new, hungry managers who are building their careers.

I think if Cloughie ever did come back it would be in an ownership role, just an opinion I have had for many years. And don't continue to be disrespectful calling clubs Sheffield, it is like calling you American.

I believe Nigel could build something special at Burton over time if he ever came back
Yes it would need a paycut but he could be given shares or similar etc as funky says
He lives in the area and he is a wealthy guy already and he's been treated shoddily by two chairmen since he left us
I just feel that Nigel more long term future for us than the short time we are likely to keep JFH
But I also accept 100 per cent that you want JFH to stay
I just don't like the fact JFH is going to get plucked from us at some stage hanging over us all the time already
Bit catch 22 for me

I have been thinking similar to funky to be honest for a while now, I wouldn't mind or be at all surprised if Nigel eventually was the man to take up the reigns when Ben finally decides to call it a day. Cloughie's 10 years at the club makes him an ideal candidate and I feel his principles would fit in alongside the template of how Ben has run the club.

I still stand by the comment I made on Nov.14th, 2014 Who will be the next Burton Albion Manager! Nov 14, 2014 at 4:27pm Post by peacockbrewer on Nov 14, 2014 at 4:27pm Very good posts tollerton, everard. I share the excitement of what this change in management will hopefully bring to Burton. I can't wait for the new style of play, and players, that they will bring. but the next 3 games will not be easy and I hope everyone gives them a break if things don't go our way. JFH just ticks so many boxes, he's qualified, experienced, ambitious, has contacts in UK, Holland and Belgium, charismatic, a media magnet, knows the game from both sides of the touch line and last but not least he would be an appointment that recognises the equality in sport movement. In the SkySports interview I don't think this could have been handled any better: "Hasselbaink’s appointment means he is the third black manager in the Football League with Chris Powell at Huddersfield and Keith Curle at Carlisle. But the Dutchman insists his race should not be an issue and has not idea if the quota of non-white managers is high enough. Hasselbaink said: “I have no idea. Look I knew the question was coming but for me it’s not really that important. I just hope and I think the chairman chose me because of what I can bring to the club and that I’m the right man for the job, black, white or whatever.” Perfect! And also agree with this comment: ".....hang on to your hats boys and girls, the next chapter's about to begin...." JFH is on the radar and will be linked with many vacant jobs by bookies, not necessarily by clubs themselves, until he actually moves I have nothing more to say on the matter and the reason for that is, he is the Brewers manager and at this time planning for next season, with my support firmly behind him.
