People just need to have a look at other posts first, I posted this story over 2 hours ago in the Football Matters section, under the Derby County thread. And I had posted the Nigel sacking in the same section before a thread was started in Brewers Talk.

I would expect most people (me included) go to Brewers Talk not the other sections . Is it such a big deal that it is the wrong section to start with?

Brewers talk is where my phone takes me as well.

It's only a big deal because people moan like crazy if non Brewers threads are on here and it gets cluttered. Therefore I have taken the pragmatic view that if there is something of importance then I give it some leeway and then move it to the appropriate board, or on this case simply merge it. I do not use a mobile ap but I presume that it has the ability to redirect to another board but as I type some ten hours after the event the thread is still here .
There will always be some hassle. Like has been said it is no big deal, but that is what I am going to do. I can't please all of the people all of the time but by doing what I am going to do,there is some hope or at least both sides of the argument will be equally miffed. What is more , if everyone knows the rules then the threads will actually be about the news itself rather than as above...

And it's good to have Chit Chat, Football Matters (non bafc), etc. sections as well in order to separate the discussions. It would be mess if everything was in Brewers Talk. (And I'm not sure that would solve the problem of multiple threads on the same story). As far as where phones etc. take us, surely that can be changed in the phone settings? Am I right in thinking that the "Home Page" of our Proboards site is called "Brewers Talk" and that there is also a sub-section called "Brewers Talk" as well? Could that be causing the "my phone rakes me to...." situation. If this is right then the top level could be changed to BAFC Forum or something and people's phones could take them there with the other sections underneath.?

With regards to the board - it sometimes appears deathly quiet with very few postings and it's a shame as there seems plenty of life in the other categories. The question is how many people see them? I hardly ever have.
Wouldn't it be better to have one bigger more vibrant board like our rivals?

Edit: not sure what you mean by "plenty of life in other categories"? Brewers Talk has nearly 1500 threads and the other 6 sections combined have a total of 200 threads? I may be missing your point though...? Edit2: Norah, this discussion probably deserves it's own thread, not a lot to do with McLaren

BUT WHERE TO PUT IT ?,.......

i have only been given full Admin powers for two weeks. In that time I have tried to re jig the titles of the boards to make it clearer as to what goes where. My first priority, although I actually can't work out how to do it is to reorder them. For instance my view is that it should be as follows:
Brewers Other league One news Other football news, League and Non League Predictions Travel news Non football chit chat Brewery talk
I am quite open to the argument that 2 and 3 could easily be merged, but at the time of its creation there seemed to be a lot going on in our league which seems to be better in a different place.
My suggestion is....
Brewers Other football news.....League and Non League news including ins and outs of ex players ( moving the ex players thread too) Predictions Travel News Brewery talk
Having looked at other forums they have just as many sections. I have to admit to having a mobile that is a telephone and does not do the Internet and so only look whilst I have my computer on and so would welcome views from mobile users to how the app works.
I have also in the past posted regularly concerning press links but having been away for so long that it fizzled. Just wondering how people felt about that...

I would suggest that generally stuff in the 'Brewers Talk' tab should generally be about Burton Albion. I do agree that sometimes some of the posts are linked to BAFC but could be better place in another section, i.e. The Clough sacking today. Seems to me the best thing to do is to allow a period of grace and shift it, as Norah has done.
There is some good discussion in the other tabs (occasionally) Peacock now agrees for example that the foam spray used by officials is a useful addition to the League.
So, in summary more or less we all get it right, occasionally we make mistakes for example both Peacock and I posted the pre season fixtures within a minute or two of each other, if you can tidy, it helps everyone, especially when you post where you have moved it to.
I thank you.

Other football forums have other options as well but they get a fraction of the visits and that's forums with 20 to 50 times more users than us
In reality whilst we are such a small forum anything posted elsewhere than brewers talk will get very little response or interest
In this case I think Mclaren and Clough getting sacked warranted being in brewers talk
I think anything involving an ex player or manager is still relevant to brewers talk
And anything derby that is a big story also as we are so close to them
So I personally have no problem with the interesting stuff like this being in brewers talk myself as it's the main but of the forum where 95 per cent of debate happens

I feel that we should just respect Norah's take on this tricky subject. I posted the Mclaren sacking, and new that obviously it was in the wrong section. I did it though because I know that we all go to Brewers Talk to look for news, and thought it would lose its newsworthy value in the space of a few hours. By the end of today I would expect Norah to probably move it. But whatever she decides, as she says, "you can't please all of the people all of the time".

So Norah are you a real woman then?
Lol
I wasn't sure if it was just a comedy forum name based on the image of what I assume is Norah Batty?
No disrespect at all intended here by the way
I think Norah is a good name but wasn't sure if it was just a forum persona?

I like the shorter list of sections and also like a separate League 1 section, and agree with merging some. Brewers Other League 1 stuff Other Footy Stuff (leagues, FA, Laws, WC...) Predictions and Travel General Chat (Brewery Talk, Community News...) Connection via mobile is still a browser based connection so should be as simple as bookmarking where you want your surfboard to take you. I like to see, and also post, links to news articles, I think it is good for those who don't live local to buy the paper or are not surfers. You do have to put up with the odd cut and paste comment though

Could we not have, on the main Brewers Talk board, a stickied thread that all of the Burton Mail/Derby Telegraph news articles can be posted into on a daily/regular basis to avoid links to the same articles being copied and pasted into multiple threads.
I think we did start doing this for a while but it seemed to tail off somewhat.
At least then, everyone would know where to find all the latest Brewers-related media articles.
Just a thought.

Norah, you are the administrator, someone has to do the job so whatever you decide is fine by me. Respect to you for doing the job to be honest!

But she did ask for suggestions and preferences, sharing is good and makes an admins job a tad easier considering that you can't please everyone.....as well.
