Good job it's a team game. We seem to be quite good at working together. Shame there's no award for 'Most under the Radar' team of the year.

Voted for by League 2 Managers: Attacking midfielder Mayor has impressed in Sky Bet League 2 right throughout this season with his pace, technical ability and his stunning array of long-range goals. He has been at the heart of an impressive Bury side and has scored eight goals, making him one of the key reasons Bury are in the hunt for promotion. Having picked up the club’s Players' Player of the Season award while on loan from Sheffield Wednesday last term, Danny joined the Shakers permanently in the summer and has gone from strength to strength. The Sky Bet Player of the Year awards have been voted for by managers of the clubs in each division. Each manager was asked to list their top five players from this season in order, with the scores added up to get a shortlist and an overall winner. He was totally obliterated from the game at the Pirelli by Phil Edwards, who also ended up getting the winning goal ! If Bury fail to get promotion either automatically or through the play offs then I expect another financial meltdown at Gigg Lane. The owner has taken out a £1 million loan at 138% interest or something ridiculous to bank roll a promotion push, with Gigg lane under threat if it all goes pear shaped. Thank goodness for Ben Robinson ! Personally I would prefer Wycombe to make it up as they have achieved what they have on a very limited budget. Not sure of Southend,s position and budget but they have had a few winding up petitions etc !

Wycombe have done very well with a very small squad, which is why many of us, me included thought they would fade away. They are now though with only two games to go looking as though they may be in serious difficulty. They only fielded five subs last Saturday, and had to make two first half subs, for a second time recently. Then to cap it all had a player sent off. I reckon they will be struggling to field a team next Saturday. So there is a lot at stake, and Bury could well make the final promotion position. I am not sure why Wycombe squad is so small, because they get decent gates.

Wycombe are actually owned by their fans in the form of a trust. The chairman of the trust describes their financial situation as a major concern.
They have been trying to launch some kind of share issue to get more funds in.
Their player who got Top 3 in that awards is actually on loan from Brentford
If wycombe don't go up maybe he's a player for us to consider loaning next season?
Can't be on big wages or Wycombe wouldn't be able to afford him

Thanks funky, that was the article I had read some time previous but I couldn't remember where I had seen it. Yes. Thanks for that. I didn't realise they were borrowing money to fund the attack on League Two. Not sure how this squares with the league fair play rules etc. Either way it seems to me a dangerous game to try to buy success. Be interesting to see how things unfold. From a selfish point of view it is easier travelling to Bury than Wycombe, but in all honesty in the situation they are in, and by their tremendous effort Wycombe probably deserve the promotion. They are obviously living within their means. Still this is our third season of knocking on the door for promotion.
