Today is obviously the best and most important day in Burton Albion's history and some of us long term fans might find it hard to believe this could ever have happened. Along the way many people have made some important contributions, some big, some small and I thought it would be nice to recognise those people and say thanks for the work you did.
I am happy to kick off and say well done and thanks to Ben Robinson, who had the vision that we could be higher profile in the football pyramid when he returned as chairman in the 90's. Ben first of all appointed Nigel Clough, recognising Nigel's potential and abilities as a manager and held on to him for 10 great years. He also had the foresight and business acumen to recognise the potential value of Eton Park but that it had limitations if we wanted to progress and he masterminded the move to the Pirelli Stadium. His careful stewardship over the years and astute management appointments in many instances have also been the hallmark of our spectacular progress and 3 promotions. Ben you deserved today's celebrations and the recognition of a job unbelievably well done.

Thanks to legendary players Darren Stride and Aaron Webster for being the backbone of the team at the start of our revolution.

Corbs changed his Facebook profile picture this morning to one of him in a Brewers shirt. He may be the other side of the world cycling up a mountain, but he is still and always a Brewer!!!! :-)

And one for the man who's always been there to welcome new players and stayed loyal through the years. All praise to Rocky.

No one has mentioned Jimmy Floyd Hasslebaink yet - was not 100% sure when Ben chose him but what a man. Took over when Rowett took the complete back room team with him and what a run of success he has had. Bit of a poisoned chalice really as it could easily have gone pear shaped but Jimmy has installed his own standards, style and philosophies and made such a success of it, even when the pressure has been relentless - this has been no easy ride. But Jimmy has been up to it - a massive thanks Jimmy.

Yesterdays match day 16 included 11 players bought in by Gary Rowett and 5 drafted in by Jimmy which sort of proves how he has gradually adapted what he inherited and taken it on another level. He chose his club wisely or should I say his chairman ! Impressed how quickly he assessed the squad and made us more effective.

Also I'd like to nominate Simon Marshall for recognition and thanks, who since our move to the Pirelli has overcome problems to give us a superb surface to play on. Without Simon, Jimmy's return to a passing game might not have been possible.

Apologies if this has been mentioned before but on the subject of thanks I'd like to say a big well done to all Brewers fans at Morecambe for staying off the pitch.
Despite warnings from the head steward and numerous tannoy announcements you always fear that someone will think it's clever and be selfish enough to spoil it for everyone else. So many times on TV you see as soon as the first people go on to the pitch the masses follow.
As it turned out everyone respected the requests and all fans got to enjoy the celebration time with the players and staff.
Well done again. COYB
On another note I left the house on Saturday with my Brewers SkyBet League 2 scarf and by the time I got home it was out of date. I wonder if I find the receipt from 2 years ago the club shop will give me a refund!!!!!

Surely a lesson learnt for all those arguing with me on Facebook last week about their right to go on the pitch will have learnt from Morecambe that EVERYONE can enjoy the moment more when people stay off the pitch.

Jimmy Floyd has been absolutely fantastic in every way. He gives all of his players full support, sets up the team in every detail for every game, has collected around him top quality help, and deals with the media in a polite and controlled way. I think a football managers job is one of the hardest careers to undertake. You need so many differing personal qualities, and still be able to absorb the pressures. Jimmy has so far been everything we could have wished for.
