Patience, persistence and courage are the qualities of a top team. I can't remember as one sided a draw as that. As soon as they got the goal we knew it would be everybody behind the ball and maybe the odd threat of the break away. I thought the qualities we showed in the face of adversity, particularly after the penalty were superb. I know where you are coming from Sinfinbovril about Carlisle, but if the boot was on the other foot I think I would turn a blind eye if it meant getting much needed points, not nice but just being honest.
My throat hurts.

Incredible game. I really enjoyed it. Went with my son. Our seats were next to their fans so we saw loads of the game first half!
At half time some of their fans were calling for Curle's head saying their football was embarrassing. So even though they were winning they weren't happy.
I have to say they are one of the worst professional teams I have ever seen play football. Can't believe Curle let his team play for so long with 10 men as well.
Anyway at half time I said to the Carlisle fans next to me - im off down the other end - there's no point staying up here as we won't see any of the game second half.
Went and stood behind the goal.
I've said it before on here. Im stunned by the characters in that end. It's a cross between a youth club, a zoo, a freak show and a pensioners club. All having great fun. With so many young teenagers in there I think the fanbase will surely grow with time. The amount of abuse at their players and the ref and the goalie in particular incredible. Only half of it justified!!
I loved the way we passed the ball all night. Best passing football I've seen from Burton in three years I've been watching. Although they let us play. We needed more cutting edge of course.
Short corners, short goal kicks, playing the ball out from the back. It was like watching the academy kids play a game of football for once.
I know their keeper was timewasting but he was incredible second half. I'm going to say that save over the bar from Matty Palmer's free kick is up there with best saves I've ever seen.
The tip round post and penalty save also very good. I knew he was going to save the penalty.
Loved the game. Result not ideal but getting a point from that was a sign of a promotion team after all that went before.
Love the way JFH has got the team passing the ball. Maybe need to go forwards a bit more than sideways.
I'm not sure what to make of Nasser. He's not the finished product but if you give him the ball as much as he had it tonight he's bound to cause problems
I really like Naylor

70% to their 30% possession. 30 shots to their 3. 8 on target to their 2. 15 corners to their 2. Yes very one sided - but more twists and turns to come in the promotion race yet I feel.

Forgot to say that save near the end from Mclaughlin on their breakaway was crucial
Thought it was game over

I couldn't go tonight but it sounded like a ridiculously eventful game. I seem to remember when we beat them at their place their supporters were moaning about our gamesmanship/time wasting/physicality. I take it they took it to another level tonight?
Morecambe will be the one where we go up. I think us and Southend will draw and Bury will lose. I also think Shrewsbury might just pip us to the title.

I wonder if we witnessed some kind of unique record tonight. By my reckoning, Carlisle were leading that match for over 100 minutes (and didn't win. Incredible game, really enjoyed it (even though we didn't win).

To say last nights game an oddity would be an understatement. The referee gives a free kick to them on 2 minutes for hand ball by Asamoah their player, the 2 man wall was inadequate and McLaughlin a bit slow to react even though the lad Grainger hit it well. That wasn't in the script. From there on we had 5 head injuries, both teams down to 10 men at one time, time wasting from the 2nd minute and an inept ref, Thought we didn't move the ball fast enough to be honest but still hit the post and a couple of goal line scrambles. The ref as it turned out added 6 minutes on when it should have been 10 or more. 2nd half followed in a similar vein, Carlisle playing 9-0-1, going down for anything, the keeper must have wasted 6 or 7 minutes on his own, more goal line clearances, some odd substitutions by Jimmy., Mcllaughlin saves us on a one on one. Just when you think we've blown it we get a penalty 5 minutes into injury time, the keeper saves it to add to a couple of other excellent saves he made and then right at the death in the 98th minute Denny Johnstone who I thought was fairly anonymous scuffs a loose ball in the box into the net and the Pirelli stadium explodes ! I though the strangest decision of all last night was Robbie Weir getting man of the match ! Getting something from a game like that in such dramatic circumstances is the mark of a team going up, I didn't think our football was slick enough but to be fair it was hard to create against 11 men defending their own box. 3 points needed for promotion, no problems as we only need one other team to slip up in the 9 fixtures they are involved in !

I took a friend who had never been to a professional match in his 60 years. Before the match I said when ever I bring someone new the result is never what we expect. The tension towards the end was exceptional and when we scored with the last meaningful kick he had his arms in the air like everybody else. What a thriller. A fine save from McGlaughlin close to the end kept us in the game. Carlisle almost won, especially with the penalty save but justice was done.
Disappointing that we only got one point but if the last two results had been reversed i.e. a draw at Luton and a win against Carlisle we would have been well satisfied. We are still on top and three games to go.COYB

Can't win promotion at Morecambe now Yes we can. If we win on Saturday, and Bury don't, we are promoted. Doesn't matter what Southend do in this scenario. If we draw, Bury lose, and Southend don't win, we are promoted. Or if we win and Wycombe fail to, that would guarantee promotion.

Just took a look at Carlisle forum. Most delighted with a point. Some nice comments about the snack bar set up in away end and how friendly all our staff are.
One guy passed on a twitter message from a sports photographer who's been photographing football matches since 1985
He described it as "one of the best games of his life"
It certainly was a game to remember.

What an insane evening that was. We should have had 3 points, they should have had a few cautions for time wasting, their keeper was brilliant and awful, Keith Curle should have been sent to the stands, 6 mins added time in the 1st half and 7 mins added in the 2nd (both rightly so).
We had 2 chances saved off the line and a goalpost (Damo) in the 1st half. Their keeper made 2 brilliant saves in the 2nd half and he saved a pen.
As for them cheats....Their goal - I think it may have been a foul by Damo before their player handled and a very good free kick for the goal in the 2nd minute. They then did their best snail imitation for the final 102 minutes, hiding in their shells, save for the counter attack breakaway in the 2nd half that Jono saved brilliantly.
The time-wasting antics by their keeper, and Assamoah fwo'ing himself to the fwor at every opportunity, and on every throw-in, and Keith Curles delaying tactics, and leaving drink bottles censored.word on the pitch. The ref even pointed to their keeper to remove it and the keeper ignored him? What is that yellow thing in your pocket actually there for? At least he added time on for these multiple delaying and unsporting incidents. But they really were a disgrace to the game for me. I think teams like them deserve to be relegated. Scratching my self they irritate me so much! They are a blight on The Beautiful Game.
But anyway, rant over for now. I know that we are going to be promoted to L1 so let's just enjoy it until and after it occurs. It would be great to be promoted at home vs Northampton but I hope we do it at Morecambe to get it over with so that we can win the League vs Northampton..

The thing is if Carlisle hadn't cheated and time wasted so much and been so defensive then I don't think the game would have been so exciting
It actually added to the night, the whole atmosphere and the feeling of justice when we got the draw
Any other kind of 1-1 and we would probably not have left the ground with so many happy smiling faces and feeling so good about the game
I wish every team would come and play us like that. 70 per cent possession and 30 shots from us - I loved it

I've been reading up on their keeper. Had a lot of injury problems last two years. Groin and knee so missed a lot of games.
Only 23. He's out of contract at end of this season.
Carlisle offered him a new deal but it's based on pay to play and clean sheets rather than nomal deal.
He's turned it down and his agents gone back with a counter offer.
I guess we are ok for keepers but I think this lad has potential.
I'm not just judging it on the saves. I was close to him for the second half behind the goal.
He has an air of confidence about him
I realise he was time wasting a hell of a lot last night but what would you do with the way the outfield Carlisle players were playing.
It was like the alamo for him
I felt like I'd known him for years by end of the game!!
Will miss him! Lol

Sometimes they go for you, sometimes they don't. If the keeper had been beaten with one of our earlier chances then his head goes down a bit, the confidence isn't given a chance to grow and we're all of a sudden talking about a three or four goal win. As always in football, fine lines.
Play like that at Morecambe and give us as many chances as that and we'll win.

Has no one got any views on this game ? Yes I have, PHEEEEEEWWWWWWW . It was one of those nights when you thought it's just not going to happen, Carlisle came to spoil the game and I suspect get a draw, the fact that they were handed a goal by a dodgy decision ( although it was a cracking free kick ) meant they could carry out the plan and try to get a win and it nearly worked, we really should have won but I am still confident that we will not only gain promotion but indeed win the league. The time wasting, gamesmanship and poor refereeing made it an unbelievable game of which I have rarely witnessed, someone said on here they wish every team would come and play like that, I prefer to watch football and if I were a fan of a team that played like that week in week out I would seriously have to consider if it was worth parting with my hard earned cash to watch. The fact that Johnstone ( who I would have taken off long before by the way ) grabbed a late equaliser made my few pints in The Elms taste that much better .

Puts it into perspective regarding the time wasting.
