Sky were of the opinion, and having viewed the same footage before I left the ground last night, and I agree Shane was at worst level with the defender although Lucas in front of him was in an offside position and flagged off even though the ball never came to him.
To be fair to the Burton Mail on our goal it was such a scramble that nobody really saw what happened at the time and the deadline for posting the report after the game would not have allowed chance to check the footage to see what actually happened. In fact Phil challenges their player and forces him to put the ball back across the area towards Moose but the ball deflects off the defender and in.

SCS looks onside to me! that "not goal" could have given us another 2 points, not to worry on to a tough game at Plymouth, hopefully we can get a result there.

Well watching again a few things come to mind. At 21 secs when Moose flicks the ball on Shane definitely looks off, but it is difficult to say exactly unless you were standing on the Northeast end of the popside. With one camera angle from the centerline we don't have the view that the AR had. We can't read the AR's mind so we can't say if he flagged for Lucas or not, but IF he did that would also be the correct decision under the latest changes to Law 11, (remaining active in the play). One clear indicator in decisions like this is that not one player complained to the ref or AR. So he probably got it right. And it looks to me that Phil got the ball back into the box, but again it's the camera angle and distance factor so we cannot say for sure.

So to clarify you are saying the linesman would have been correct to flag Akins offside?

Regarding this match I thought we started so poorly that after they scored I was genuinely hoping it was going to rain even harder and become unplayable and get abandoned
We did get on top second half but we can't give teams head starts like that

SCS was onside when the ball was played, Akins was in an offside position but not interfering with play! I agree with JFH, a good goal disallowed, having said that there is no point crying about spilt milk .

Is that the corner that managed to get a few feet into the penalty area , or is it the one that went straight out for a goal-kick .LOL

Not defending anyone but from the Popside you couldn't see that standing water near the corner flag, I noticed there were several bad deliveries from that area of the pitch so just guessed it was waterlogged.
