Good signing I think. Also good to see that he could end up coming here permanently since he's only 23 and good young players aren't exactly readily available at our level on free transfers.
I'm assuming the Calero thing isn't going to happen unless Lenihan is to be recalled?

I was wondering if Lenihan might be going back and that is the the reason for signing Naylor .

The other thing I was wondering about the Calero thing was if there had been any serious interest in MacDonald (there were some rumours about Millwall and another team as he got his injury). Wonder whether if MacD left he would be a natural replacement? Or if Lenihan does go back then maybe Calero will still come in? Or maybe not at all.

I think it was Bolton and Bradford who were also reported to be interested in Alex.
A possible situation with Lenihan had been suggested involving Blackburn being difficult with us around the time we first heard about Calero training with us and possibly coming here.
A tricky few days coming up I fear and what we don't want is to be left in a situation where we end up selling Alex, losing Lenihan and not getting Calero. All three situations could be out of our hands.
I'm sure I remember Lee Bell tweeting a few days ago that he was staying for the rest of the season. Maybe a little caution being exercised by the club there?

I didn't see that one coming. Tom has something to prove if he wants a deal for next season, so he should be hungry to prove himself. Regarding Calero, Lenihan and Macdonald I'm assuming nothing and hoping for positive outcomes all round.

Macdonald hit a purple patch
I believe the key to when a player hits a purple patch is often to cash in
It wouldn't be a disaster to sell him for decent money and re-invest in other players IMO

BBC Oxford have tweeted that MacDonald is close to joining them... Wow. Talk about a backwards move. Has he seen the league table recently? He could be going up with us but he could be moving to a club that could be in non league next season. I can only imagine that they must be offering him one hell of a pay rise because I thought that a) he'd just moved to Burton in the past few months and b) he had clubs in league one after him. Either that or he's hell bent on leaving here no matter what happens and who comes in for him. Unsetlled perhaps for whatever reason? ...or it's just more BBC bullshit.

Yes I've seen that too funky, don't know what to make of it to be honest. I would be very surprised seeing as his home is in Lancashire and that he is currently living in Burton. I can't see Oxford paying much of a fee either but you never know. On the football side if on returning from his injury he is still playing as he was he will be a big loss, however if he plays like he did last season not such a loss. Regarding statements made by JFH he didn't want to lose Macdonald. I would imagine Macdonald is ambitious and a move to Oxford would be a backward or sideways move at best !

Twitter including Burton Mail suggesting fee has been agreed for Macca with Oxford.
Maybe, as above this will lead to Calero coming in on loan, or not.

I saw on twitter an Oxford fan saying that they had new owners in the summer and they made it clear that they'd "splash the cash" in January. Still can't believe Alex isn't moving up a league though although if this move had come up 6 months ago I think you might found a lot of people saying "take the money and run". Unfortunately it looks like he's going to be in the opposition team on February 14th when they visit us.
As Funky says it could lead to Calero coming in or maybe El Khayati is destined to fill that role? Maybe McGurk could be in line for a run of starts?
