I think the phrase is more like 'prospective' new signing.
Nothing signed or sealed at the Burton end at the minute (trust me!)

I have seen it on the official Achilles 29fc site, so probably just the paperwork to finalise this end. Maletic according to his profile is Serbian born but a Dutch national, 27 years old, 6ft 4" and a right sided defender. Can't tell you much more.

Big balls up at the Dutch end if it doesn't come off, even a couple of their fans have commented on him leaving. "IF" it does come off it seems a strange signing, 27 years old and a bit player most of his career from the "trustwothy" Wikipedia ! Would be a direct replacement for Sharps. Playing for a club operating in the bottom half of Dutch League 2. link

Well he looks like he's only played 52 professional or semi professional games in his life.
10 games per season on average over 5 years.
Very strange one.
You guess JFH has someone he trusts in Holland scouting their second division for players.
My word of warning on Dutch second division is that Forest paid 500k downpayment for a tall young striker from there who scored over 30 goals in Dutch second division last season.
And he's by far the worst impersonator of a professional footballer I've ever seen.
Lars Veldwyk is his name. If he's scored 30 goals in a season in that League it must be one of the worst League's in Europe.
Normally you expect Dutch players to have great technique of course.

I've just watched a couple of dvd's of him on Youtube, not sure of the fitness levels in that division but the quality does not seem poor. I can see why Jimmy would want to have a look at him, he's very imposing physically and can pass the ball very well. He certainly won't get bullied but whether he can adapt to the pace of league2 remains to be seen. I am well aware than a bit of dvd footage doesn't give too much to go on but I was quite impressed by what I saw of him. Although my Dutch isn't great I can understand enough to work out he is a bit of a cult figure amongst Achilles 29 fans. I felt the same about what I saw of Kelvin Maynard to be honest and I have been quite impressed with him and you can see he is getting sharper with each game as his fitness levels improve.

Suffice to say, assuming it happens, this one doesn't surprise me!

The Forest striker looked decent on youtube
In real life he can't run or jump
He's basically just very tall
I hope he didn't score any against this lad

I agree, his fitness is improving each week (he had a bit of a setback from over-training but seems ok now). WRT to Maletic I'll trust in Jimmy, he hasn't put a foot wrong yet. Am I right to assume that Lenihans loan is not being extended and Moose is going back into CM? Or maybe extended by a month while Stefan settles in?

Sign your nephew Jimmy.... he's not getting any games in the Greek Super League, and his last 4 transfers were free but think it would be a loan IF it happens, a pretty big IF? www.youtube.com/watch?v=NdpQOcanhqQ

According to an "interview" with Maletic looks like JFH had him at Antwerp for a trial and wanted to sign him. JFH left Antwerp but they kept in touch. Also looks like he has been training with Albion all week. As cbh1 reminds us, nothing is confirmed this end yet. www.voetbalzone.nl/doc.asp?uid=232867

The plan/hope is to have Lenihan for the remainder of the season. Hence Jimmy's quote "At the moment it is only until February 7th but hopefully we can then negotiate again."
It has nothing to do with whether or not Maletic signs.
The issue at the minute is that with Blackburn currently under a transfer embargo they are reluctant to commit to more than a month at a time in case they run into problems and need to recall players on loan. Players on a half season/season long loan cannot be recalled. Darragh is on a youth loan so it can be extended month by month and hence why the 93 day loan rule does not apply in this case.

I think it 'could' have something to do with a new CB coming in and having time to settle (see below). And Jimmy wouldn't show all his cards in an interview, it might put one of the players off. This new 28 day youth loan must kickin on Jan.10th if it expires on Feb 7th. I expect he is allowed to train with the team this week? And it looks like we cannot even plan/hope on having Lenny til season end. a YL cannot be extended past the players 21st birthday. We 'could' extend again from Feb.10th (Wimbledon match) to March 10th just before Lenny turns 21 on March 16th. I had mentioned the embargo possibility on FB yesterday I think but come to think it, it wouldn't be an issue with Lenny as he only ever sat on the bench once at Rovers (unless of course they had a raft of injuries). Regarding standard loans: Any recall clause requiring the early termination of a Standard Loan can only be included in a full Season Standard Loan and this can only be activated during the second (January) Transfer Window. Any other early termination of a Standard Loan must be by way of a mutual agreement in writing between both Clubs and the Player but can only be completed after the expiry of 28 days and only during a Transfer Window.

But once he reaches 21, or even on Feb 7th if needs be it could be converted to an emergency loan under the 93 day rule.
Jimmy confirmed to me they wanted to agree a longer deal but Blackburn won't commit to longer term loans at the minute for the reasons that I have already stated.
