First half ends, score is 0-0. From the BBC teletex reporting it seems the Shrews came out to take the game to us in a fierce way. Seems Shrews were in control this first half. Let us see what JFH has the Lads up to in the second half.

I looked at half time stats and would have snatched anybody hand off for a draw at that stage
But looks like we upped our game again
Shrewsbury play Luton next which is good
Shame that newport are also putting a run together but we are now pulling well clear of playoffs at least
Another game we predicted would be huge test and we came through
Stunning result

This was always going to be a tough task. The team stuck to it very well. Shrewsbury shaded the first half, but we started the second half very strongly, and really started to test them. The goal at 60 minutes reflected our attacking play in the second half. We were a little unlucky not to make it two soon after. The Shrews then began to chase the game and put us under some very strong pressure. Well done to the lads for holding firm and getting the three points. once more some very good performances, including the official MoM Stuart Beavon. he worked his socks off. Personally though I would have given it to Matty Palmer. A great game to watch and a good advert for League 2.

A great win, so important we didn't lose today. 1st time we have beaten the Shrews !!! No chances of note to either side 1st half, Matty Palmer's free kick being the closest either side came, the referee didn't help as he gave us nowt, ironic cheers in fact when he gave a decision in our favour. 2nd half I thought we upped the tempo and Tafty stuck a sweet volley in with the outside of his left foot from a corner by Matty Palmer. Maynard had a chance to make it 2-0 which was well saved by the keeper but then the Shrews dominated, they created 2 chances, one for Mangan which Phil Edwards heroicly got in the way of and one with 5 minutes left which they should have buried but blasted over the bar. Overall a gutsy performance where we had to dig in to grind out a result. Blythly ran himself to a standstill but if Jimmy gets a half decent striker in we will be much more of a threat. A very hard earned 3 points from a very close encounter and just about deserved. Onwards and upwards I feel !

I thought Maynard was very impressive and Beavon and Blyth never stopped all game. An excellent top of the table clash where either team could have won. Nice to beat Slop at last. I said before the game that if we won, I would predict us to get auto promotion. I never do that, but I never expected us to win! Couple or three decent signings and we can win this league. Stuff the play-offs. IF you go up, do it properly.

Yes I agree if we are to go up, lets do with auto-promotion. To go into play off becomes a lottery, and to lose at Wembley is very hard to take.

Well done lads, to beat one of the best teams in the league is fantastic. We had to dig in very hard towards the end to hang on but with some heroic defending and some woeful finishing by there no 3 we did it. I truly believe that if JFH can pull of a couple of strong signings including a good striker to play alongside Beavon we can get automatic promotion. Well done to all involved, I would also like to give a mention to The Shrews no 4 Woods, who had a tremendous game and must feel very unlucky to be on the losing side. COYB

Great result. Seen them 4 times under Hasselbaink, each time shown great defensive qualities. Working hard and well organized without the ball, will need to keep that up if we want to go up.

Deserved win today against a good side. The tempo and workrate was spot on today. Agree they probably just shaded the first half, but second half right from the start we got at them and attacked. McLaughlin right through to Blyth worked their socks off today and we're solid. First half MCcory was different class, second half the two upfront really took the game to the shrews and they struggled as we prevented them from bringing the ball out from the back and giving them time on the ball. Mousinho is a rock at the back. Blyth won every header and caused them real problems. Taft never put a foot wrong and scored a great first goal. As for Mom they all deserved it today, well done lads! Nearly forgot to mention the lads coming off the bench, wow! Strength in depth also.....

Blyth was my man of the match. That back four of Shrewsbury's is possibly (man for man) the best in league 2 and they couldn't keep him quiet. The (again awful) officials let the Slop players get away with murder as well.
There's nothing more I can add that hasn't already been said really. Tremendous on every level today.
Apparently Matt Le Tissier was doing our game on Sky and was absolutely slating the both of us. Sounds like his knowledge of football is on a par with his experience of international football. Non existent.
...oh, and that miss by the Shrewsbury player at the end. Heart in mouth? Just a bit!

You need a bit of luck sometimes and i think we had some yesterday. They were best 1st half and we came out fighting and were best for the next 35, the last 10 mins were tense. We beat a very good side I thought but their supporters I talked to thought they can be a lot better than that? Nice goal from Matty-->Tafty and Maynard should have had one as well. They missed two clear chances in 2nd half. Think a 2-2 would have been a fair result, but we got the three points! Bloody Wycombe still in the way. COYB!

Shrewsbury can only play as well as the opposition allow. We can play a bit as well, so they came up against an equally good team yesterday. We deserved our 3 points as much as they deserved the points in our game at their place. They will look better against weaker opposition, as we would.

Barely saw Damo on those highlights and Beavon only did one thing, I would go for McLaughlin.
