A bit of a funny interview with Gurks talking about the lads... nicked from a FB post ... you need both files open as one leads into the other...

Although he's not always contributed as much as I'd like I believe he has the quality to do well if we get promoted

Hopefully he is hitting his form and confidence at the right time. JIMMY Floyd Hasselbaink is backing Adam McGurk to keep delivering the goods in front of goal for Burton Albion. "He looks sharp, he looks willing, he needs encouragement, and he has got quality," said Brewers manager Hasselbaink. "He has got quality. He bagged his third goal in five games in the 2-0 win over Oxford United "He just needs to believe in those qualities and he shouldn't dwell on a mistake like he sometimes does. I think that if he applied himself 100% of the time, he wouldn't be with us, he would be plying his trade in L1 or even the Championship because he undoubtably has the skills. What annoys me is that he seems be the victim of some numbskulls on the Pop side who hate him, shout insults, and are always slagging him off in a way that they think is amusing but isn't. It's the same clowns who were always on the back of Corbett/Pearson/Symes.

They are from the Norman Hunter age of football I think, if you're not breaking legs you're useless.

He does in my opinion try to apply himself 100% of the time (and thst's the only difference between sirchristian and me), but when his touches, flicks, passes ar whatever don't come off, his head drops just that little fraction and his confidence drops accordingly. Certain Popside "experts" recognise this, and being the kind of people they are, can't help but get on his back so that his head and confidence drop even lower. I wish those "experts" could realise that footballers aren't simply emotionless machines without ears and feelings, but are humans like you and I who sometimes need encouragement not abuse to motivate them. He certainly has he ability to play above L2 level, maybe it will be with us next season.

I must reiterate this point, I have been in all stands of the ground but now stand mainly on the popside, moaning about players performances is not by any means exclusive to the popside it happens in every stand, but some supporters seem to think everyone on the popside is a moaner, this is not the case!!!!!

Swaddy, I don't doubt for one minute what you say, but I only mention the Popside as that's the only stand I have experience of. Neither did I mean to imply that everyone on the Popside is a moaner, just certain "experts".

I don't think that everyone on the Popside is a moaner. But the moaners on the Popside are louder than the non-moaners. And it's not just the preponderance of moaners, but the overly-audible sigh which happens every time a pass is misplaced. I moved behind the goal for this reason. I'm now regretting my decision due to a very long and boring chant which repeats the word "censored.word" over and over again, and which appears very popular there. I'm no prude and use the word myself when I feel like it, but it was boring, unimaginative and censored.word annoying.

I stand in the pop side and I am not a moaner, I do hear many though, I now generally block them out, I have had a number of verbal altercations with the knob flops in the past though

We've had this topic before swaddy, and sadly it is the "few bad apples" that spoil the brew and get written about/remembered. There is definitely a small group of them near us, it used to be annoying but now we just give it back. When Gurks or Weir make a great play we yell out support louder than they yell out crap. I think that is the ultimate answer and I really wish the entire Popside/ground were less timid about vocally supporting their team. For me it adds to the game day experience and I know the players appreciate it.
