Shane Cansdell-Sherriff, could miss the rest of the season with a small tear in his Achilles.
Jimmy Phillips, tore his posterior cruciate knee ligament (same as Tommo's injury) in Monday’s 1-1 draw at Newport County and will be out for three months.
Zeli Ismail will be in the squad for Sunday’s home clash with Chesterfield, kick-off 3pm, if he comes through training today.
McCrory, underwent an operation to clear out damaged cartilage in his knee on Wednesday and will be out for around three to four months.
Ismail (hamstring) and McGurk (groin) - should be fit to face the Spireites, while the manager will make a decision in the next few weeks over whether to recall the on-loan Zander Diamond and Chris Hussey from Northampton and Bury respectively. Zander was stretchered off in the Wycombe but I haven't heard any further news on that, anyone???

Right, currently we are missing 3 defenders, so let Zander play the last 2 games at the Cobblers to make sure he is fit and keep him in game shape. He's on a 24-hour recall if we need him earlier.
For the Chesterfield game, we still want to secure the 2nd playoff game home field advantage (?) well, thats what they call it. Lyness, Edwards, Sharps, Holness, McFadzean Zeli, Weir, Palmer, Gray Kee, Alexander
and then see where we are injury-wise.
If Zander gets through the next two games for the Cobblers then pull him back in place of Holness for the playoffs. Bob will be ready to come off the bench when needed.

The Sherriff has been outstanding since he came to the club and his understanding and reading of the game alongside his mate Sharpsy has been the cornerstone on which the team has been built around. Having said that Bob has been excellent in the games he has played and I don't think we will be any weaker at the back. He will be keen to put last seasons play off mistake against Bradford well behind him. Jimmy will be replaced and no disrespect to him but I think that may work in our favour. In the physical aspect. Zeli if he is fit is a big plus, he gives us much more attacking options and a constant threat if we give him the service. McGurk too has the ability to turn a game especially if used in a slightly deeper roll. I suspect we may still come up a little short but in all honesty the likely contenders Fleetwood, Southend and York are not unbeatable and certainly not in the kind of form that Bradford City were last season. My dark horses are Southend, a Wembley final for them would garner big support and they did reach Wembley last season in the JP Trophy. I hope we are in a position where we have to go for it in the 2nd leg of the play off semi final and that we are the home team rather than being in the position of trying to hold on to what we have as we did last season. Just my thoughts which I am sure to differ to others.

Common sense would say get zander back as quick as possible, and get him settled again into the side if as expected Shane won't be able to play in the playoffs. Shouldn't be taking a chance with zander letting him carry on playing for northampton who themselves are in a battle. He,s still a burton player so get him to do a job for us if we can recall him that is ( not sure we would have been clever enough to put a recall clause in as we're not always looking that far ahead) Hope he isn't still injured.

Well according to the link further up the page he is fit to play for Northampton tomorrow. The only worry I have is if he gets recalled how committed will he be to the Albion cause , as he didn't seem very happy with the way he has been treated at the Albion , before going on loan to Northampton .

My point with leaving him where he is to get him in game shape over their final 2 games. But if we get another injury or suspension at the back on Sunday he would be training at St. George's on Tuesday morning and starting against Southend for me.

Of course we have a 24 hour recall, I think you do the club a disservice by suggesting they are not clever enough to look that far ahead. If Gary Rowett had not had the foresight to sign the players he did then we would be in a bit of a quandary squad wise for the play offs !! I'm not suggesting for one minute that Zander may not be committed to the cause but we don't know the full facts regarding his loan move to Northampton, He certainly was committed when he was here. It may be he would be a bad apple in the basket but that is only guess work. What i'm saying is that the manager is in a better place to judge the situation than we are and I trust his judgement.

Zander is a professional footballer, and I emphasize the word professional. IF he's recalled, I believe he'd perform his role to the best of his ability. The smoke signals say he's not part of Gaz's plans for next season, meaning he's in the shop window for any prospective employers. He's not going to jeopardize his career for the sake of whatever went on when while he was here earlier in the season, so he'd be doing his best for himself as much as for Gaz and Burton.

Regarding the comment about not being clever enough to get zander back from his loan, isn't this the same staff that didn't get the loan deal for McDonald right for the playoffs last season, who a few season ago signed the kid Redmond from Birmingham then couldn't play him, and who have signed goalkeepers this year who (which is actually a blessing) wouldnt be able to play in the playoffs.

They are only human woz, they make mistakes but learn from them. Redmond was in the Pesch era which is completely different.

Regarding the comment about not being clever enough to get zander back from his loan, isn't this the same staff.....who have signed goalkeepers this year who (which is actually a blessing) wouldnt be able to play in the playoffs. You must mean Lainton, who we signed on an emergency loan deal when Lyness got injured, and who can only stay with us for a maximum of 93 days due to football league rules. See these links: www.derbytelegraph.co.uk/Burton-Albion-boss-Gary-Rowett-gives-new/story-20590064-detail/story.htmlwww1.skysports.com/football/news/11095/9207997/brewers-extend-lainton-loanHow could we have dealt with that emergency situation differently and still had Lainton with us for the playoffs? As it happens, we've since signed Freddy Hall on a short-term deal to cover us during the playoffs. That, along with the 24hr recall clause in place for Diamond, and the fact that Rowett delayed the signing of Hemmings until 27/3 so he would still be with us on 27/4 for the Chesterfield game (he could only join for 31 days max) suggests to me that they're pretty clever about short term and loan deals.

Would have to agree with you there Oxford, the previous quote must have been some one referring to a team in the Burton Sunday league. We have only been in the league 4 seasons and I think the club would admit they have made some mistakes, particularly in the Pesch era, James Collins and Nathan Redmond being two prime examples but they have learned from these and I would say Rowett and Summerfield along with Kevin Poole have been pretty shrewd in their judgement.

I can't recall what occurred with Redmond but to be fair to the management Collins was virtually signed save for the ink when his agent worked out a deal with the Shrews. No doubt a higher fee for the agent, higher wages and a chance for League 1 footy for the player. I can't place any blame on anyone but the agent and he was doing his job, maybe the solution is to ban agents from the game, recall the Tevez/Mascherano fiasco....

Nathan Redmond wasn't allowed to sign for us because he was still a first year scholar at Birmingham and FL rules don't allow first year scholars to go out on loan to other clubs.
It was an oversight on the part of both clubs if memory serves correctly.
