Couldn't go to Cheltenham today, so went to watch Gresley. This was supposed to be a friendly, but was played with a lot of commitment, and quite a few bad fouls. The ref yellow carded one or two players. In the second half, a Gresley player already on a yellow, made a really bad tackle which clearly deserved a yellow, (meaning a red as well). The ref let him off with a verbal warning and got a lot of understandable grief from the opposing team manager. What happens in pre-season friendly bookings or sending offs? Do they count the same as in season league games? I.E. are they on their way towards 5 bookings before the season starts? Or would a red card have seen the offender miss the first game of the new season? Just interested to know. Changing topic it was a good move to go to Gresly, because I didn't go through the agony of us being 2 down. I went back early to the car to discover we were 2 - 2, and almost won 2 - 3.

I ref in the Dorset Premier League on a Saturday and i know this year they slightly changed the ruling on this.
Im pretty sure it used to be the case if you were sent off it would affect being able to play in the league but yellow cards would not be carried over. But this year they changed the rule to if you are sent off you cannot play any further part in pre season friendly's but would not affect being able to play in the league.
Whether this is the same across the whole board now i am not sure, im 100% sure yellow cards are not carried over.

This happened at Mickleover tonight- the opinion was that the straight red would mean that the player would miss one game at the start of the season.

Thanks Peacock. That clears it up very well.

Fulhams pen was a goal.
LAW 14 - THE PENALTY KICK
Procedure •After the players have taken positions in accordance with this Law, the referee signals for the penalty kick to be taken •The player taking the penalty kick must kick the ball forward •He must not play the ball again until it has touched another player •The ball is in play when it is kicked and moves forward
When a penalty kick is taken during the normal course of play, or time has been extended at half-time or full time to allow a penalty kick to be taken or retaken, a goal is awarded if, before passing between the goalposts and under the crossbar:
•the ball touches either or both of the goalposts and/or the crossbar and/or the goalkeeper
The referee decides when a penalty kick has been completed.
