Put 4 past Fleetwood on Easter Monday. 4 v 0 Now in 7th on 67 points... like Lincoln who are in 6th vying for that last play off place... We don't often do well against Oxford do we? Maybe this time...

Can only see a defeat on this one. 2-0 I predict. This might be the day we drop into the bottom 4 finally.

Four happy words about this fixture:
Calvin Zola. Jacques Maghoma.

We are long overdue a shock victory out of nowhere, now would be the time.
If we play to what strengths we have, and play positively we've got a chance, anything else, could be a battering.
The law of averages says we must get three points at some point.

I wish I could feel the same way but there's nothing on the pitch to feel positive about . It's L2 next season I'm sure. Shame .

Four at the back, please. The first half against Barnsley was good and what we should've been doing for months. Joe Powell - mwah! Did you see him smiling? He loved it. Cairan Gilligan is not quite "bite yer legs" (Norman Hunter RIP) but he's definitely a pain in the ar*se to play against. And if the opposition score, let's keep four at the back.
As with the Port Vale and Barnsley games, I shall be meditating before the match. I don't want to get thrown out and get banned cos I often feel like running up to the dugout and giving him a slap.

I think this team and formation, with some kind of positive intent instilled by the manager (neither will happen obviously...) is probably the best chance we've got:
Crocombe
Brayford Hughes Sweeney Hamer
Harper Gilligan
Kamwa Powell Seddon
Hugill
Subs: Blackman, Moon, Bola, Helm, Carayol, Adebomi, Scott

Is Seddon on loan to us from Oxford? With all the comings and goings I end up unsure who came from where when.

www.burtonalbionfc.co.uk/news/2024/april/0404-press/As a normal Popside viewer, it was interesting on Monday to watch the game from the centre of the main stand. I was intrigued as to who the big tall guy who was on the touchline was, he had a lot of input. Was this Kean/Keen? Dreyer was not visible, was he on the gantry? Another interesting aspect was the number of times, throughout the whole game, both Paterson and the tall guy turned to look at the guy on the gantry. Assumedly looking for an explanation, a confirmation or whatever. I was reminded when in the article there was the point made about analytics. I am generally in favour of having the analysis to assist, certainly there is a point to it around assessing the fitness of players etc. However, it should not replace but only complement the manager's decision making. Surely that nous, that experience, that ability is why you are the manager not the guy on the gantry? Maybe it is still is.

And yes Dreyer now goes up on the gantry - but that is a new thing over the last couple of matches. Kean does seem to have more influence now.

Jake Kean is the one in charge of set pieces right? I remember it being said on Radio Derby one of the games

We keep saying this but this really is must win and it feels like we are moving into last chance saloon. Of course if Vale and Cheltenham keep losing then it bides us more time but with them playing teams with nothing to play for tomorrow and also their games in hand in the week then you suspect that anything other than a victory tomorrow will see us in the bottom four by the next time we play.
Nothing new in MP's pre match interview(what else can he say?) where he is asked the same standard, easy questions by the clubs interviewer. It's hard to see how we get out of this where the players confidence is as brittle as it's been for many years and you suspect that with a few loans and players out of contract that many of their thoughts are moving towards where they'll be next season rather than being fully focused on the future of BAFC. I might be doing them a disservice but the reality is that there's a lot of selfishness in all walks of life including football so suspect self interest is starting to take over. Won't help with the likes of Nigel Clough attending recent games hovering over some of our better players(probably Hughes & Powell) eyeing them up for next season. I really wish he would look further afield rather than start his recruitment program at our place trying to pick people up for free.
Anyway, i'm sure that those that attend tomorrow will be positive to begin with and get behind the team and let's hope we are cheering them off at 5pm rather than people hurling abuse at the manager and players like the last couple of games.

Very much agree with your last point annable. The abuse from the stands down to the dugout when Deji came on as substitute after 20 minutes last week was disgraceful. The booing, jeering and abuse toward the manager and players at the end of the game helps absolutely nobody. I’ve no doubt everybody was giving it their all last Saturday, but if it’s not good enough and the team aren’t good enough, then there is nothing you can do about it but accept defeat gracefully.
