I'm surprised the manager's not apologised to the fans, after that performance. He said vale shaded it or words to that affect.I don't know what game he was watching.Last week he said, himself and the players knew what they had to do on the day.I fear the worst,i hope I'm wrong.

I agree with the assessment of the horror show. For me the problems are fairly obvious and I again don't understand why the manager cannot see them.
We play 3 at the back as we have 4 quality centre backs, Moon currently injured and Hughes hopefully now back. So there has been no reason to play 3 in their absence, unless he feels JB can't play in a 4.
Play a back 4 as although Hamer and Seddon like getting forward, they are not wing backs that can take people on. It was obvious on Saturday with their starting positions too defensive and limited attacking intent from Seddon especially.
Midfield, oh my god. What's with playing the holy trinity of Powell, Helm and Oshilaja? Everybody bar our managers can see two glaringly obvious things.... One Deji is no midfielder, secondly Powell is not a defensive midfielder. There is no organisation in there, no-one talking, no one orchestrating the press. We are crying out for experience in there, or at least one or two defensive mods who can hold their position and organise. I'd hoped that Harper and Chauke were going to be it in the summer. Helm is not a winger, so why did MP not throw on Carayol when we went 442? Anyone? Helm is also looking weak and doesn't shield the ball from defenders. On Saturday all 3 were within yards of each other near the stand, they broke straight on to our back 3, no cover, nothing.
Long balls up to Hugill who jumped but never actually competed with the defender, seemed scared of the physical battle. Nor was he running the channels for an out ball from the full backs, sorry, intended wing backs. He offered nothing but never got the ball to feet, but also I never saw him show for that either.
What was the game plan, apart from long throws and set pieces? Is that really all we've got.
I felt sorry for Sweeney as he once again battled his way through, being solid and our only attacking threat. From being 4th choice early on to immense undroppable mainstay.
Blackman looked a little rusty but also competent as expected.
Hudlin, at the end of the game when he came over I shouted to him and jumped up in the air. I thought he may not know what jump meant. He never got off the floor so was constantly beaten in the air! 6'9 and can't win a header, what is his point?
We are clearly struggling to score, so why not actually play some attacking players and give ourselves more of a chance. We put Kamwa on down the middle, again, a waste. He needs to play out wide.
Away at Wigan I expect exactly the same as recent weeks, but for our sanity, please play with some attackers at home.
I came away with so much apathy which is why it's taken until Colston to write the horror story to vent.
The game for me was summed up by a piece of play in front of me. Two of their players on this touchline, Hamer and Deji came across but neither said a word or actually engaged the player with the ball. Hamer should have been screaming at Deji to go to the man and he'd take the player who was then making a run down the line, instead neither went to the player, nor did they track the runner and it was an easy cross. As simple as that.... What are we doing on the training ground when simple things like that are not being dealt with. It's school boy stuff.
There's no leadership on the pitch. Yet we have 4 or 5 who have been captain of us or another side. Where's that gone, it's like it's a sinking ship and the apathy has set in.
All we ask is defensive organisation, attacking intent and effort. I like MP and he says the right things generally, but it's time for the team to show up, but first of all he's got to pick the right players. Forget this who does well on training, how about looking at performance on a Saturday too. Too many have been poor and still get a shirt.
It's crunchy time Pato, it feels like you may be about to screw up your chances of being a No1. 7 games to show you have a career, otherwise it's back to being an assistant. Your choice!

I agree with quite a bit of redders above.
But Hugill I think did do well with the scraps he had, indeed, in the end resorted to trying to pass to himself and use his pace he desperately needs someone half decent to play alongside, because I do think he is sharp enough to score at this level.

Also the consistent in a sh*te season, Powell a defensive midfielder, Deji a libero.
It has hardly been successful, maybe time for a swap?

I still go with what someone said a few months ago - if Lionel Messi was in this team, he wouldn't score. The ball never gets that far up the pitch.
Hugill is our best option.
Redders, your sentence "It's like it's a sinking ship and the apathy has set in," sums it up for me. The players have given up.
So have I - I'm looking forward to going to Harrogate. Tea at Betty's, a pint in the Winter Gardens and a Turkish bath in the evening. Wonderful. I'll be furious if we stay up.
