I really thought I'd see an improved performance today but alas not to be, hopefully second half will. I enjoyed it, it was back’s to the wall at times but a hard won point. We have some excellent players and I think we’d be able to add Bola into that category today. What a shame for Jonathan Leko.

Over the moon with the result. Sending off. Key player who can't behave himself. Not happy.

Josh Walker scored a late consolation for Gillingham.

A predictable result that had nil nil written all over it before a ball was kicked. I listened to Neil Harris yesterday and thought they don't sound very ambitious and we certainly aren't at the moment so no surprise with the score. Given the red card it has to be a decent point for us and in the circumstances with none of the bottom four winning it's as you were at the bottom. The worry is that Reading somehow go on a run and that then causes a number of teams a problem. Four home games in February and you would think we need to try and get to 40 points before month end and that then 50 point mark is in sight. Another thing from today. Mason Bennett has just played 100 minutes of football and not been taken off! Amazing in itself although don't know how he played. No Hughes again today when it's sounded like he's almost been fit for the last two weeks. Hopefully nothing go on there. Interesting few days coming up so see if there's any ins and outs. Trying to get a reaction. Fair play. Told you he was good. Another Bennett fan. I can feel a fan club starting.

Unlucky but not using his brain, either when he kicked the ball away or when he went diving in

Bola will get his chance now so we can have a proper look to see what we've got. Will be a big chance for him.

Cambridge ended up with 5 yellows including the manager. Just thinking had Dino been involved today?

A point gained although I feel with 11 players on the pitch we could have had all 3 points today. Seddon who I rate, got suckered into getting sent off after kicking the ball away and then letting a Cambridge player wind him up prior to that unnecessary tackle… We defended brilliantly again with Crocombe looking very composed apart from him getting involved in a couple of situations he didn’t need to. I thought Bola? The full back did well coming on but Adebomi needs to up his workrate in closing down imo if he expects game time.
We didn’t play great last week but got all 3 points and today we didn’t really get going especially 1st half although 2nd half was much improved with the team all pulling together.

I'm happy to stand by our players but he was embarrassing today. Especially the third one - pack it and concentrate on the game, man.

He's certainly a player who you'd hate on the opposition side! He's our player of the season by a country mile so far.
What I would say is that he needs to be careful on the yellow cards, he's up to 6 for the season now.

Maybe he is encouraged to go down as outfield players would have to leave the field. If the manager needs to get messages/tactical/positional changes across, this is the best way of doing it. We’re Burton Albion and we have to ‘find a way to win’ against bigger clubs.

We’re Burton Albion and we have to ‘find a way to win’ against bigger clubs. Of course (I'm a bit slow on the uptake) THAT's the loophole. No matter what rule comes in, there's always a way round it. I'm sure clubs pay someone to come up with 'solutions' (cheats) to adrress these 'issues' (rules). No matter how the game changes and how much I say things like "well...it's the modern game, what can you do?" I still deep down hate it. Bending the rules? If you can't beat them, join them? It's cheating. Full stop. All the players do it, then lose their sh*t when the other team does it. So not even any honesty in their dishonesty. Jumpers for goalposts and all that. Rant over. Ignore me. Oh, you have. Good COYB

I was chatting with a mate the other day about our visit to Maidstone in 1987 for the quarter final of the FA Trophy. Kent Police really went overboard and the state of the away end - treated like caged animals. I have no love for whatever version of Maidstone football club is currently playing and look forward to a proper football club giving them a sound thrashing. Kents.

I have to take issue with your opening lines Annable... While the table might have suggested 0 v 0 was a likely score.... , from the ko and from the terrace where I was stood, the outcome looked far from predictable. I think there was ambition to win, or at least not to lose, on both sides. There was attacking threat, aggressive competition, keen individual battles and resolute defending. The number of cards shown reflects this (some stupid ones in there too) Brayford and Sweeney were immense! While we're re still not seeing the attacking threat we'd all like to see, I'd say that it was a hard fought Brewers performance and a great point won. I enjoyed it..... as much as I could expecting we'd concede at least one goal at some point in the 99 mins (most probably in the 99th)

I thought to myself yesterday we have some REALLY good players. Crocombe, Brayford, Sweeney, Hughes, Moon, Hamer, Seddon, Oshilaja, Powell, Helm, Bennett, personally I like Rekeem Harper too. But as yet not the required attacking threat as Stockton didn’t work out (too hot to handle perhaps) and Walker & Gordon couldn’t hack it in League 1. Let’s hope that MP can find us some experience and nous up front before Wednesday or sadly we may still flirt with danger.
