Lost 1-0 in case anyone hadn't heard - several new trialists on view which surprised me so near to our first game.

Byron Anthony looked very good, ex Bristol Rovers, composed at both centre back and right back. As we are in real need of a right back and centre back cover he might be worth consideration. The younger lad Jones from Derby was OK, but nothing more. I do like the look of Paterson formerly of Southend, some very good touches and might be good cover as we're a bit short up top at the minute with injuries and such.

Floribert Ngalulu also worth another look - centre mid and I felt Dean Morgan ex Chesterfield and Oxford was ok too. But when Kee went off you just couldn't see us scoring.

In Rex Page's report he describes Leed's goal a shaving an, 'element of controversy' about it, well those of us who were behind the goal in the moments before, saw what was the most obvious hand ball that it would have been better described as prolonged fondling!

Dont think we will see any of them, last nights trialists were just to make up the numbers I was told as no one was being risked before Saturday

You didn't need to be behind the goal to see the handball , I was beyond the half-way line on the popside and you clearly see Varney control it with his hand .

I think everyone saw the handball apart from the ref and the "ass ref" (intended)...but still, it's a friendly and I've always though the result doesn't matter. What matters is the players that are actually ours got a run out against a physical side and from the trialists we may be about to offer contracts to Anthony and Jones if the Burton Mail is anything to go by. I'd be happy with that.
Not been mentioned but I thought Lyness had a good game as well.

Yes apart from a bit of a mix up for the goal - Lyness gave a faultless display all night. It was great to have a keeper capable of collecting a cross.

of the trialists Anthony is the only keeper for me. Morgan is a whole bunch of trouble, yelling at teammates, giving up after a bad pass or tackle. whine-whine-whine.
