It's only the 1st game so best not get too carried away? Buxton had a great game, one of the best I've seen him in an Albion shirt. Edwards looked lively but a bit on the light side, as I was expecting him to be more like Frasers size? Just thought we got out muscled and they were a lot quicker to the ball for long periods. Agree with Clough that nothing really dropped for us, and the clearance off the line summed it up really. Overall I thought they were to physical for us and held us when needed to stop us playing. They got what they came for, 3 points! COYB šš» Agree with all that. Edwards looked a decent player. Buxton was immense and its a good job too.

Pretty happy with that today, was quite impressed with Ipswich, I predict them to be right up there in May. for us I think Jake did well, as did o toole, as did the keeper, he looks like a real prospect. I was a little surprised/ disappointed to see Broadhead operating so deep, great corner at the end, again I believe he's another hot prospect.

I donāt think I can add much more to be honest. Ipswich shaded the first half but we defended well. I thought John Joe had a good game but itās already been said Bucko was immense. Second half we shaded it but missed a few chances. Lucas should have buried his chance but not even to hit the target was criminal. Knowing Lucas though heāll be hurting and heāll be ready again to go next week. All in all yes disappointing result but a good performance against a team who are expected to be challenging at the top end of the table this season. We certainly didnāt do enough to win all 3 points but we very easily could have got a point. Onwards and upwards and a nice little trip to see our good friend big Stevie Evans at Gillingham next week. Now that would be a good place to pick up our first win !!!!

3 positives from today:
1 the keeper looks quite mature. A nice couple of Hollywood saves in the 1st half
2 triple J - looks a solid pairing at the back
3 football is back!!
3 not so positives:
1 Clough on the radio mentioning likely interest in fraser. We can cope losing Allen, we will struggle losing Allen and Fraser this year if he goes.
2 Boyce - I saw the same Boyce who looked disinterested for 3 months last season. I hope he is sold quite soon to be honest.
3 no programme seller in the west stand when we arrived ā¹ļø

Who the hell would want Boyce now anyway? Lost his marketability

Hmm. My honest view, Fraser wasn't fantastic today.
But he doesn't seem to suit left mid. Much better in the centre.

Listening on Radio Derby today. I hope that Tony Bentley has looked-up the word āsupporterā in the dictionary.Ā I used to like Tony, thought he was very knowledgeable and one of "us". I"be listened to him a coupe of times over the last season or two and every time he's pissed me off immensely. I don't think he even reflects what goes on on the pitch very well any more. He's incredibly negative even when we're playing ok. Something about the radio Derby lads is wrong. A local journo is meant to be behind the team and I don't get that impression from radio Derby at all. When you think for many fans it's the only way they get to know what's going on on away games especially it's very poor. They have a huge effect on the mood of fans and as far as I'm concerned they dampen any positivity rather than spread it. Shame on you Tony. You've changed.

He just seems to be anti Clough in a similar way to how Royston was on here, so much so, that itās effecting his whole persona and diseffecting his colleagues too. Mike Perkins is a Barnsley fan anyway. Get Keith Gilroy back again - I loved hearing Keithās more inciteful and informed opinion.

I wonder if he's fallen out with people at the club or something and can't let it go. Nigel certainly doesn't like being "attacked" in interviews and usually responds in kind to that kind of style. I know they are connected to the club but our own two media lads do a great job and I've really noticed the quality of the interviews with both the manager and the players has improved a hell of a lot. Nigel's not an idiot and he's fair with his interviews if we've played badly he'll be the first to acknowledge that but of the Radio Derby boys are negative just to provoke, he won't stand for that kind of garbage. It was the same when he was in charge at Derby, the sports team dont like him and look to ask wind up questions whenever they think they can stick the knife in. Such a shame as like I say , bentley has good knowledge of our history and achievements. I now prefer to watch the text bar on bet365 rather than listen to him , subscription or not. Good to see so many balanced posts on here, I must say I was nervous when I logged on to read last night.

I couldn't make it to the game yesterday but like others have said, absolutely no way would I even consider listening to Radio Sheep, it used to be my 1st consideration but Mr Bentley bores me to tears with his negativity.
Can't wait to get to my 1st game, give all the new lads tome to gel and WE WILL be in the reckoning come seasons end. COYB š

On reflection I thought we did well yesterday, dominating possession 57%-43%, and the more I think about it the more shocked I am by the harsh line taken by Radio Derby. We had 3 new starters and 7 new players in the squad, playing against the promotion favourites and a club playing at this level for the first time in 60 years. Maybe expecting us to turn them over (as I did yesterday before kick off) was not reasonable. We need to be patient and give this team and squad time to get to know each other and gel. We can get there with continuity and a little bit more self belief. Letās remain positive!

Perhaps radio stations have a different agenda these days - I wonder how many young people actually follow radio commentary/coverage? I was told by a colleague that Radio Derby was "for old people" and certainly not a channel of choice.
In this case, with a perceived need to be edgy and to compete with social media, the longstanding "footballing" audience are treated to a diet of over sensationalism or unbalanced negativity. Extremes and instant reaction, making a drama out of normality, seems to be the order of the day. Enhance this with the obsession for reading out tweets and giving after match air time and credence to the each and every loudmouth.
To be honest, it's a wonder that anyone with any ability to think rationally, would wish to listen in.

Clough says we did nothing wrong, Ipswich under McCarthy, relied on being hard to beat,to compete in the championship, Paul Hurst brought more flair, and Lambert brought back the do not lose mentality,Their relegation was settled with plenty of time to prepare for league 1. With one of the biggest budgets in league 1,losing players to fellow league 1 clubs was not a issue,And even in league 1 they would be very attractive to most players of Championship caliber,Lets hope they dont fancy one of ours. They got the lucky break on Saturday. In a tight game ,a misjudged final pass and poor finishing led to our downfall,We stood our ground even when reduced to ten men. A lot of positives to take from the game, against a promotion favorite, I can live with the present squad losing some one after Macfadzene=Allen=Harness. Like Boyce=Fraser leaves a sour taste , A -ho this is the life of a Brewer,Sorry Nigel carry on building a team with what is left after the cream is taken

I want a Craig Cabbage style person co-commentating. He is great at supporting his team and club. I respect him. He annoys me greatly but he is supposed to annoy me. Iāll do it. Iāll annoy loads of people who donāt support Burton Albion. And quite a few that do.

Lets be rational here,if radio derby does not cover Burton Albion anyone working, on holiday or paying for ifollow because we are far away is doomed, what other radio station covers the brewers. During part of the season or away matches i cannot get to games, radio derby and ifollow are my life line to football coverage of the Brewers.Someone said it is a station for the old. No it is a information centre for the brewers. i remember when only the second half was covered, and if you could not get to the game, you got 45 minutes of information for the week. Burton Albion are like in most departments a world away from a massive audience and media coverage. So lets be grateful a radio station gives us our own air space. it did not in our friendly games and they got no media attention, except Derbyshire life. A lot of clubs today have their own t-v station, imagine Brewers t-v feeding all of 3000 people if they all subscribe, bankrupt after 6 months no customers. I feel fortunate that when i cannot attend games i can listen to the game on radio or a poor ifollow,Presenters some like em some dont. I feel with presenters like our players,we get what we can afford,A good one would not be covering Burton Albion

I agree Tony has definitely changed his attitude. I have to listen to i follow because of where i live. I missed the first 20 mins. So missed the goal but thought the goal was due to someone not playing in their best position so gave the goal away. Not that it was a massive deflection. maybe they mentioned it when it happened. It wasn't till i saw the highlights that I realized it was a massive fluke.
The glass is always half empty with Tony which makes for a very dull afternoon. I have to watch the highlight to get the true picture along with you guys telling me. We definitely need someone new, Time to step aside Tony.
