Clough says it all, we need players on the cheap,and big clubs can afford to pay most of their wages.and it is better they select their squad,and then have players kicking their heels moaning. 3 weeks to decide the best option,suits clubs like Burton

I agree that league 1 & 2 need the extra time. What I don't get is why the transfer window for the bigger clubs can't close earlier enabling all of the clubs to have their deals done before the league fixture programme starts.

I agree that league 1 & 2 need the extra time. What I don't get is why the transfer window for the bigger clubs can't close earlier enabling all of the clubs to have their deals done before the league fixture programme starts. I am guessing that it is to match the European clubs. They generally start their seasons later.

No other country in Europe (and I suspect the world), have the strength and depth of professional and semi-professional football leagues that we have though.
