Good player, not nice to play against if I remember rightly. Welcome John Jo.

Useful player but not exactly prolific (35 goals in 194).
Does that suggest that maybe Sordell could be moving the other way? who knows.

Could be a Tom Naylor type player adding a bit of strength in the middle which we never really replaced!

Great to see a new signing coming to us. I'm sure Nigel already knows exactly how he wants him to fit into our side. Welcome John-Joe.

Nice too see we are getting someone whose 6'2'' in midfield , although we didn't do to bad last season with our small boys (Quinny and Jamie).

Welcome to the club john-joe. Experience and versatility has done Clough well over the years and feel this could be a good signing for us. Not sure exactly where he gets in the team if we keep hold of our midfield from last season?

Surely there's a good chant for that name...?

We'll have to wait and see regarding position, but Lucas played almost anywhere last season for us, and did a great job wherever he played. He may want to use him as a centre back, going up for corners, playing us out of defence, and yes replace Faz. We will just have to wait and see though.

Because players, as they get older change positions, Stride and Moose as examples. I suspect JJ will possibly be a starting centre half, but with the option of being the midfielder as well.

"We're really pleased to get John-Joe in - mainly for his abilities in both penalty areas," Burton boss Nigel Clough told the club website.
"We really need a threat; for the amount of corners, free-kicks and general play we had that ended up with the ball in the box, we haven't finished off enough by any means."
I thought at first that this quote from Nigel indicated that he was looking to play John Jo in some sort of forward role....as a goal-scoring threat But reading it again....I'm not sure it does, as it mentions both penalty areas and the threat from set pieces.... .....maybe he'll compete with others for a midfield place....if NC sees Wallace as a Centre-back option, John Jo might compete/alternate with Quinn in front of the back line......we shall see in due course

I read it entirely that he's the new Fadz but the most telling thing is that he's versatile and that has always been important for a player in a Nigel Clough side. Some see that as a weakness but they're the ones always determined to find a problem. I see it as a strength.
Whatever the main position the guy is going to play, I'd lay money that not only Nigel is already certain of that position but that the player, too, has come to us in the full knowledge of what that position will be. It's unthinkable that it wouldn't have been part of the discussion.

I concur entirely, things change, of course they do, but if JJ gets selected at CB I dont think that will come as a surprise to him and I dont foresee teddies out of the pram. I believe there is a great deal of mutual respect between Clough and Wilder. Overlapping CBs anyone?

Always been a right handful against us. oh ok, I assumed wrongly he was a forward. I can see him as a utility player filling various positions which makes sense with our budget etc.
