I think Scannell has been a tad disappointing, but not through his application or ability. I think he has been hampered by injury and I thank him for his efforts.
Only one loan now, so space for a few others...

Scannell was a huge disappointment for me. I’d be amazed if we ever saw him back here

Maybe a blessing in disguise this one. I for one was excited when we signed him on as I had seen him play a few times before and thought he would give us some much needed creativity and also a goal threat. In truth he has done neither with any consistency.
So with him plus Mason and Ripley going back to their respective clubs Nigel's summer dip into the loan market was not very successful. In fact with question marks still over Lund and Allen's ability to play consistently at this level there is only Jake Buxton who can consider himself a regular from the summer signings and we are coping at the moment with players who served us well last season.
No criticism of Nigel for his summer dealings as it really is a fine line between getting it right, as he did last January, and getting it wrong as he had in the summer.
Today's performance showed that we are just a few effective creative players away from a decent team. Certainly things are better defensively now than they were a few months ago so let's hope Nigel can recruit well in the next few weeks.
Think we need a transfer rumours thread as it's going to be a busy few weeks!

Disappointing for me too. El Khayati (legend) could beat a man substantially better... And I think that was his key ability

Only one loan now, so space for a few others... I seem to remember him playing for Scunthorpe against us a few years ago, he was the best player on the field and thought he'd be a more than decent loan signing for us. As Ian says, I think he's had a few injuries whilst he's been here and the loan hasn't really worked either for him or us. Still, nothing ventured, nothing gained and hope the next stage of his career works out better for him.

I know your memory is very good Uttox but unfortunately Sean has only ever played for Huddersfield and Crystal Palace in his career so I think you may have mistaken him for a different Scunthorpe player as he has never played against us before............will have a chat when I see you next to see who you might have been thinking of.

So promising but sadly never anymore than just promising. Don’t think the current Huddersfield wingers will be too worried about their places!

Still at ADO Den Haag. youtu.be/LL0wHMW0tp0There's a special goal there 3/4 the way through.. I'd happily see him back lol

But where did he go when the going got tough? Where is he now? Nasser was absolute class when he was here. He scored many great goals and I always thought we had that bit extra when he was on his game. What does it matter where he is now ?

Sean looked as though he was on the verge of producing something brilliant but unfortunately the final ball was always lacking! Onwards and upwards, "Hopefully"

Thanks cbh, must be a memory fail on my part. The game I was thinking of was the 2-2 draw at the Pirelli in September 2013. As you say, I must have been thinking of a different winger.

Looking at the line-ups from that game I reckon you were thinking of Etienne Esajas who was a winger in that game. (Formerly played for Sheffield Wednesday)
