OK our new signings today were a bit of an anti climax.
On the other end of the scale it looks like Nott's County are looking to off load Lee Hughes with Cheltenham Town and Oldham interested. Proven at L1 and L2 with a goal every 2 games.
I can't imagine Albion would let him anywhere near the club but:
Happy or not if we signed him?
For me, I would find it extremely hard to watch the Albion with him in the team. OK he has served his time, but leaving somebody to die - NO THANKS !

You will get a unanimous NO, I'm very sure of people's stance on this.

Martin Allen was interested in him for Gillingham as well but a very definite no thanks.

No, nasty piece of work. Not just because of what he did, but how it must irk the chap's family to see the thug smirking and winding people up etc like he does. Total moron, wouldn't touch with a bargepole.

They maybe willing to let him go, but apparently they rejected offers today from Cheltenham and Oldham so sounds like they want a decent fee for him. Although surprised that many are interested.

I wouldn't pay with the drippings off my nose for that arrogant convict .

He's still one of Notts County's highest earners. Maybe even their highest. People thought blowing big wages on Darren Moore was bad enough.
He would still score a great number of goals in League 2, but no Burton fan would surely feel comfortable cheering for him...

I hear what your saying guys and totally agree but I would assume the Nott's County fans said the same just before they signed him. When Hughes scored against us at our gaff the Nott's County fans (and there was a lot of them, from memory filling the away end) cheered him like a god.
What would you do stop going to games?

I'd rather we had Nerys Hughes.

Nerys Hughes, wasn't she in the Liver Birds. Must be pushing 60 / 70+.
Have you seen her play lately. If she has kept herself in the same condition when in the Liver Birds at least it would make it more enjoyable if we lost.
Surely the Albion could attract someone younger. Need to start watching the female footy at the Olympics, could be some cracking strikers there.

Yes I would stop going to games (for what it is worth). I really don't think we would sign though.

Can't stand the arrogant peice of s...
Can't imagine the Brewers paying what he would demand and I would guess they wouldn't take him because of his past history.

The bottom line is that we will be too expensive for us, BUT.. And it is a big but, he is / was one of the most gifted players that I have seen play against us in a league match. And If people are also pragmatic, which I am, surely you must concede that if a player is in our team then his, antagonism, dirty tactics etc. become less of a problem. I am sure for instance that the morcambe fans do not have a word of praise for Stanton after he muscled into their team last year and they will not be the only fans to be against him. I would have probably been as vocal if he had played for them! So-Hughes may not be a nice man and he certainly feeds on a crowd's antagonism which he deliberately provokes but if that benefitted us..If he did actually play for us... Well.. I would actually sort of welcome him, well sort of...
