BURTON Albion forward Stuart Beavon is in the running for January's PFA Fans' Player of the Month award in League One. The Brewers' No 9 - who struck a fine goal in his side's 2-0 victory at Coventry City back on January 16 - has been included on a 12-man shortlist for the prize, which is voted for by clubs' supporters online. Beavon faces competition from a host of other strikers, with Sheffield United's Billy Sharp, Tom Bradshaw of Walsall and Adam Armstrong - the division's leading scorer - just a few who are also up for the award. I can see Adam Armstrong is in the running yet again - no doubt a club of Coventry's size will walk this popularity contest. Sometimes I feel a bit sad I was born in such a small nothing town, but when I see what the mighty brewers have achieved in such a short space of time it almost makes me choke on my apple juice!

Sad that Armstrong came up short against the meanest defence in the league, mustering one tame effort off target in 90 minutes. Failed to deliver the goods when it mattered unlike Stuart Beavon who scored that day and hit the bar.

no one who was truly born in Burton Upon Trent ever describes it as a "small nothing town" and certainly does not drink apple juice! The coventry fans on their forum are now settling for the play offs at best. looks like another year in league one for them. They will be able to console themselves by enjoying their large something town. ha ha ha

Is that the same Adam Armstrong who doesn't belong to Cov playing at a ground that doesn't belong to cov. I've been trying to ignore the sad person but couldn't help myself.

TM said.............you don't get out of league's playing the way Burton do ! What is wrong with these people, seriously deluded IMO. They are destined for many.. many more years being ridiculed in division 1. I do not wish them any harm nor do I wish them any good, coventry are spiraling out of control and are responsible for their own embarrassing demise. BOY lol.

The problem with clubs that have a large fan base, they think the smaller clubs should turn up get beat and enjoy the occasion, div 1 is a mine field for large clubs.
Most of the small grounds with empty terraces are not what their players are use to ,and is culture shock being back to grass roots football; A windy cold day-night in rochdale, add a little rain on a bumpy pitch, must be a nightmare,And of coarse the fans react to the clubs demise, and things go from bad to worse Some clubs enjoy div 1 being on the football league show, and visiting some good stadiums,Non league, that's real grass roots. Don't forget being a badly run club is what got them there,,so their are no big clubs in div1,only a big fan base, That don't like it up em

Biggest problem clubs who used to be in higher Leagues have in League 1 is they are playing in stadiums far bigger than their current fanbase
Coventry a perfect example. I realise it's not actually their own ground but it's ridiculous that they are playing in a 30k capacity ground when they can barely half fill it
Feel sorry for their players ot have to come out and see so many empty seats etc. Must be seriously depressing and that's why the atmosphere in the ground from home fans at Coventry resembles a morgue now
I know they looked at the idea of closing one or two of the stands for Coventry on their match days so that the fans that still do go to watch them would be able to watch together and try and keep warm etc
Not sure if that experiment worked or not?
Doesn't matter what you try they still have to watch the same lack of entertainment and you need the players on the pitch to create the atmosphere whatever you try with the fans
It's a sad situation they now find themselves in. They have to borrow a ground so it's like playing away every week and they have to borrow most of their best players so they can't really get attached to them etc as they can be recalled at any given time
But they won the FA Cup in the 1980s. There's still black and white footage of that in existance in the BBC archives so nobody can take that away from them at least.

So odd. The most dedicated troll on the web. Like a rash. Ba71 will probably still be posting here when we draw Coventry in the FA Cup sometime...
