I've always been quite cynical about how the TV money gets filtered down but this is great news. Quick turnaround as well with it being planned for opening in time for next season. Hopefully the council "green light" it.

Fabulous news and an astute , long term business move on behalf of the Brewers. I have the fortune / misfortune of going to see various teams play at Sutton Coldfield (and we nearly always lose). However the pitch is almost constantly in use by teams of all levels. My personal opinion is that they are awful to play on and don't make for good matches, but hey, what do i know ? The bottom line for me is that the facility of an all weather pitch not only will 'pay for itself' and be good for the community but as important is the fact that it will raise the profile of the club to those who are interested in the sport. It is a no brainer. Well done Ben et al as usual.

This would be a great thing for the club and each year will save significant expenditure
We have community and younger ages of our academy paying to use Robert sutton school floodlit astro during the week
We also pay/contra for the academy to use st Georges indoor facilities midweek in the winter for training and outdoor facilities at welbeck defence college midweek in summer where they don't have floodlit
So I reckon the money saved by having our own facility plus possible money that can be made (not sure if that's allowed) by hiring to others would also be significant
And it looks like it's possible the whole thing might be funded
I think this is actually proposed to be 4G which is what they have now
I think 4G is excellent myself. It's not like the old astro. Even 3g is way better than in the old days of astro. I refer it when the kids have matches on 3G or 4G now than the grass as the ball runs truer.
Either way it's a great step forward
I think there are plans for a hotel etc on the new retail park next to the stadium so us having our own plans for a hotel may be surplus to requirements now

Will this be used as our training facilities?
If so - I am not sure this is the best thing for the club as St. Georges is a huge draw for many players, coaches and has helped improve the players fitness immensely!

I'm sure first team will continue using St Georges but we've got kids from 5 years old training anywhere around the area where we can get floodlights etc on winter evenings and all our academy kids training near loughborough in the summer on grass and we will be paying for that So I think this will be mainly used by young players in Burton and maybe the youth team as well as the Academy I'm sure there are huge cost savings as a result And as I said it may even provide an income on top let alone just save costs depending on the rules about community use with it being funded Many may get to use it free as well I'm sure

Not a fan of plastic pitches for professional use. but I think this is and will prove to be a wise investment and money maker for BAFC and the community. Surely the team will continue to use St. George's for their knees sake and the motivational factor provided by the England Academy.
