Could it be that David Oldfield is set to become our new Manager? According to Newsnow they are offering the Assistant Managers job to their sacked manager. This gets more interesting by the minute.

That's what I was alluring to in my previous post claymillman. I certainly would not have a problem with David Oldfield as our new manager. Will be interesting to see if he is with Jimmy at the Madjeski this evening !

First time I've used Newsnow, I've seen stuff from it in the past but never used it. Quite interesting, thanks for the idea to pop over there.

That sounds good to me. Just find him an assistant.

It's a no brainer if Oldfield stays at Burton, him or Clough or the pair together. Of course that's if either want the job and or of course they want their own men alongside them. Nige has his own back room staff that have seemed to have followed him around, less money here I guess than they were on at the previous clubs. For me Oldfield would be a good call, just like Rowett stepped up after Pesky.

It has been announced that Jimmy is expected at the Madjeski tonight, therefore he has agreed to be QPR manager or why else would he be going. We are just waiting for the official announcement that he has gone, the players would have been told earlier today so its just a matter of time until BAFC tell us. I posted this yesterday I thought? Maybe it was on FB... Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has agreed a deal in principle to take over as QPR head coach and will bring in David Oldfield as his assistant. Burton Albion granted Rangers permission to speak to Hasselbaink after an official approach was made following the League One club’s win against Millwall on Tuesday evening. That victory left the Brewers top of the table but is likely to be Hasselbaink’s last match at the helm. His appointment was initially expected to be rubber-stamped over the weekend, but Rangers now plan to announce his arrival on Friday. www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/hasselbaink-agrees-qpr-deal-and-will-bring-oldfield

Nothing yet. As discussed there are rumours from QPR's side that they want to keep Ramsey on in an assistant manager position. Fingers crossed that's the case. My main worries are: - Team falls apart without a manager, but expect a manager to be appointed almost immediately. - Jimmy nicks all our good players in January. This is the price of huge success at our level, unfortunately. Rowett went almost a year ago and we thought it may be the end of the world. Got promoted, top of league 1, 9 points from safety. I respect JFH for clearly dragging this until we had a 10 day break and getting us past Wigan, Colchester and Millwall. Thanks JFH, bring on the next super successful manager (shame we just missed out on G. Neville )

QPR have had a huge number of managers over the past 8 years. I feel they are governed dreadfully. Very different to Burton!
On the plus side, he's a head coach so doesn't decide transfers! Also - Nice to see so many people complementing Burton saying we're a club going places etc
Some twitter posts: 'Supposedly we're getting £1.5m in compensation for JFH & Oldfield! He's done a hell of a lot for the club, top bloke as well'
The QOR thread says he's bringing Oldfield with him - but no idea where the information has come from (though I wouldn't be surprised).

Considering their eye watering losses in recent seasons. £75m then I think £57m, I can't understand why they haven't got a transfer ban. A journalist wrote yesterday that QPRs better financial muscle will allow them to get any players they want from us. This is a club carrying allegedly £195m debt. Poor little us have no debt, and yet we are apparently primed to be milked by a club with much higher turnover, yet very seriously in debt, and well outside the fair play requirements. Something very wrong here.

I agree it's annoying.
He's left a growing upcoming club for a club that sacks managers willy nilly, has huge debt, treats their head coach (not manager) poorly.
If they lose Austin it's game over for them. And unfortunately that could sink the JFH ship too.
High risk move for me.

Little old Albion are used again ! If Oldfield stays, good, but he has been used by JFH as well. Is it significant that Robbie Weir has agreed a deal but not signed his contract, off in January, to you no where.
Poor form that we get the news from QPR via Sky pundits.

Agreed.
To summarise all the tweets/opinions: - Coventry fans happy, they think they've won the league - Should have stayed at Burton and taken a job in the summer as he'd have been offered PL by somebody. - Burton on the up, growing etc - but we know that already...
Ah well.

Don't think any of our players will go, can think of only one ex that plays in the championship. Who says there not a hands off clause written into the deal? Again money talks in this game, for managers as well as chairmen. My feelings are Jimmy expected more from our club, bigger crowds for instance and visiting the bigger clubs in our league has made him hungry sooner than we thought to get some of that. If you look at the bigger picture, Burton Albion in the championship on crowds of say 5-6kk. We hoped for that this season, hasn't happened. The project has stalled for Jimmy to be taken over by someone else who can carry it to the end. Just my feelings really as apart from the money and travelling why give in on a project unfinished?

I hope so Bennyboy.
I also expected bigger crowds. My only comeback on that is, next season, we could have been playing at those bigger grounds.
I work away a lot with my job, so can fully understand why you would want to move closer to home immediately. It's horrendous!
