Nobody would have guessed that in 30 years we would be 3rd in the Third Division. That would have been ridiculous.

Indeed, previous season the Brewers had finished 6th in the Northern Prem, and I was training with them occasionally (very occasionally) on Todwick rec.

We had some fantastic players in the squad then, Paul Evans, Les Mcjannet, Nigel Simms, Steve Dolby, David Vaughan, Kenny Blair, Andy Harrison, Iain Maclain, Doug Newton, Paul Froggatt, Bob Gauden, Paul Fisher, Jimmy Kabia, Stewart Mell, Garry Marrow, Pat Lally just to name a few !

One of the few players to play for both Sheffield clubs and alongside another, Terry Curran, scored on Boxing Day 1979, when the Owls beat United 4-0 in front of a still third division record crowd of 49,309. My best Christmas ever :-). I wonder if he is still with us? He did have a reputation of being a big of a boozer. Lived in Goosecarr Lane, when he played for the Albion...
