Coventry City have signed Joe Cole on an "emergency" 35 day loan deal and Oldham have signed Ricardo Fuller on a 3 month contract.
To put that into perspective - Joe Cole's current weekly wage at Aston Villa is slightly less than our record transfer fee for a player we signed (going on the assumption that Akins cost about the same as Penn.)

Coventry are or have also signed Chris Eagles, its has always been that the bigger clubs in this division and those like Wigan receiving parachute payments will be able to add to their squads, this will be particularly noticeable in the transfer windows. The financial clout they have will be considerably more than ours and definitely gives them an advantage. However as Mousinho has stated it's just the 11 they pick on the day against our 11 !

Not too concerned about Cole and Fuller, 34 and 36 years old, think their best days are well gone and are collecting a pay cheque. Eagles is a different story, he's 30 next month and probably still has something to prove. Just wondering why he is unattached? I remember seeing him in the FA cup game at Burnley and he was like the invisible man, there he is...whoa...where is he now. Brilliant at finding space, but the others have to feed him. If we're there or thereabouts in January I trust Jimmy in bringing in a bit of magic (if we need it). Moose is right, it's 11 vs 11 every game.

We can't bring anyone in. When attendances and turnover were a hot topic not long ago Ben said we're right up to the fair play cap. Fairly sure we'd have to get rid first.

I wasn't aware of that, it's an interesting point. How does that work? If say Deano went out on loan would that loosen the cap? There could be some wiggle room still though...we were looking at Justin Hoyte (or were we merely letting him train with us to get in shape?) and there was talk of Royston Drenthe which Jimmy confirmed to be true. Perhaps there is a window of opportunity somewhere. Anyway, for now let's just beat The Cod Army (strange name that).

I have no idea how it works to be honest. I think it does work if we send people out on loan and it's interesting you mention Dean because we currently have 3 goalkeepers plus a few younger players who aren't seemingly anywhere near the first team. Maybe sending them out on loan to gain a bit of experience and get some time on the pitch benefits everybody, maybe it doesn't. Who knows. At least we know we're not going to get dropped in the financial crap like some clubs and we've got someone at the helm with a steady head on his shoulders.

Just seen on Twitter that Bury seem to have won the signature of Chris Eagles so unfortunately it looks like we'll be seeing him very soon.
