The official site has a very good tribute to Ben on his 70th birthday. Nigel Clough pays him the main honour in the article, and acknowledges how fitting it is to have the Albion at the top of League 1 at his 70th. I recommend you read the full tribute. As a supporter we are all well aware of the club's achievements, but it does no harm to read the way these goals have been reached through the words of Nigel Clough, and incidentally the words of the Football League Chairman.

We'd be absolutely nowhere without him.
Happy birthday Mr. Robinson. Heres to many more years under your watchful eye and many more years of success.

Happy Birthday Ben!! It must be a great feeling to see your club at the Top of League One on your 70th birthday!! Here is the article... Nigel said: "He has a very good record. It's as much about his instincts as anything as he has put a few managers in there without much experience at all. He lets them get on with it and gives them the support when they need it. He's an exceptional chairman." Ben not only gave Nigel his first manager's role but has also given key career breaks to the likes of Neil Warnock, Gary Rowett and now Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink." I wonder if he's shedding a tear today being as we are top of the league on his 70th. Remember he shed a tear when my daughter had her birthday and was mascot for the day. We had hospitality for the day and I saw Ben with his hanky out wiping his eye when they brought the birthday cake in. How many other chairmen would be like that. My daughter's 29 yrs old now.
Happy birthday Ben, still looking good.

Happy birthday Ben, thank you for everything you have done for our football club, you are a fine human being too and I will always remember the kindnesses you have shown to me over the years, never too busy to take time out to speak whenever we bump into each other. Top of league one on is a fitting and brilliant achievement to celebrate on your 70th birthday. On your 100th at this rate we will be top of the Premier league and European champions !

We'd be absolutely nowhere without him. Happy birthday Mr. Robinson. Heres to many more years under your watchful eye and many more years of success. I'm sitting in a pub in Norfolk with dodgy internet so just to say I echo all the above! Just raised a glass of local cider in a toast.. Here's to you Mr Robinson! X

When I lived at Barley Close a ball went through my shed window, I took it back after the game and Mr R invited me in for a beer with the players/directors and offered to pay for the window. Never did send him the bill…
Top chairman and very kind words from Nigel Clough which is what you would expect.
At Morecambe when the fans were chanting for him to come out I reflected that there are few if any chairman that enjoys that kind of respect from fans unless they are bank rolling sugar daddies like Jack Walker for instance.
I too will raise a glass of Draught Bass in about 57 minutes at Stretton Social Club.

Thanks Mr R for all you have done for Ben Albion , I truly believe without BR we wouldn't be in anywhere near the amazing position we are in now. The most fitting part of the article for me was when the FL Chief exec said, Football would be much stronger if there were more Ben Robinsons. What a guy and still looking good at 70, I hope I look that good at 70, what am I saying I don't even look that good now at 55 . Cheers Ben and if its not too much to ask can we keep you for a while longer please.

No one deserves more praise than Ben for what he's done for our club and his 70th birthday seems a very fitting time to reflect on our fantastic success.
On top of that, he's a genuinely good guy and always speaks to the fans when we see him at the away matches etc.
A true man of the people and yes...just how does he keep such dashing good looks at 70? (I need your secret please Ben)

I walked past his offices in the William Worthington building on Monday and wondered - has the town ever had a finer Brewer than Mr Ben Robinson.

Ben is a true hero of Burton-on-Trent, the whole town should be grateful for him putting us on the map.The difference he has made to trade and industry in the town must be massive. Burton is noticed at last.
