Hi everyone, I'm a 17 year old rochdale fan and before the season began I started a blog about visiting the 92 football league stadiums and following Rochdale. I've been to every game so far and written a match report on each game. It would be great if some of you could have a look at my blog so I can see an opposition fan's perspective on my report from yesterday's game Here's the link for anyone interested questforthe92.weebly.comCheers, Jimmy

Good write up. Thanks for posting. Save Derby County for our away trip next year (I jest - no jinx needed...).

Fairly accurate write up Jimmy, but if you are into accuracy then Shane Cansdell-Sherriff scored the goal. It was announced as Beavon but it wasn't. Best of luck in you quest for the 92!

Ah sorry about that, I didn't have a great view of the goal itself so was just going off the announcement and BBC giving Beavon the goal. Thanks for the feedback

Well Jimmy SCS may be right or it could be an OG? Defo not Beavs though Tony Bentley (Radio Derby match commentator) said on FB it was given as an OG, and the BM says.... "A goal, which was given to Joe Rafferty as an own goal at first but was later claimed by Shane Cansdell-Sherriff, part way through the first half secured victory for the Brewers, who move third in the table." Credit where credit is due, I actually thought it was a very good game between two good teams with plenty of quality on display. I also felt that Duffy, Akins and Beavon for Burton were on top of their game and provided a constant threat to Rochdale throughout. But football is all about opinions I guess!!

Duffy, Akins and Beavon were all certainly impressive. But we were poor yesterday (probably the worst i've seen us play) and I felt you could have pushed forward and scored more because we were there for the taking. But who knows then maybe we would have scored and sometimes football is about grinding out those 1-0 wins.

As a team we aren't destroyers. We are grinders. We typically do enough to secure a win, but scarcely win emphatically. Even in league 2 we won by 1 goal probably 75% of the time (when we won) and 2 goals maybe 17%! 3+ the remainder (Hartlepool and Tranmere I think).
It's riskier in this league but thus far, working.

Beavon was brilliant again as he is every game and Duffy was his usual self and rightly MOTM for me. Weir-Naylor are our best CM pairing for me, but Jimmy has to keep players keen and in the mix. We have played much better but perhaps Jimmy did his research and thought this team, with Butcher and JBW was the formation to beat the Dale...

Pretty good write up fella but I and many others would question your (or your manager's) comment about a sticky pitch?
If your guys can't play on that pitch, you'll probably have to play at Wembley every week?
Ours is probably the best prepared pitch in the country and puts many Premier League pitches to shame.
A poor excuse in my opinion from a manager who I would generally respect quite highly?

I'm sure the pitch is great normally but I wrote the report before I saw what Hilly had said about the pitch because I thought the ball wasn't really running properly. I'm not blaming the loss on the pitch but it definitely had an effect on the way we played in my opinion

The pitch is always fantastic these days Jimmy, just as it was on Saturday and our groundsman Simon Marshall has won more awards in recent years than you could shake a stick at, even beating Premier League groundsmen so...sorry got to totally disagree with you there I'm afraid.
The simple reason it wasn't watered on Saturday, is that it poured with rain all morning and as you probably noticed, it didn't need any more, as a few of our players were slipping on it anyway?
Had it been a dry day, the groundsmen would have been out watering just before kick-off as always but it was totally unnecessary.
I can guarantee you one thing for certain, you won't be playing on a surface as good as that next Saturday or for many to come!

Nice writing Jimmy. Like others, do disagree with yours and Keith Hill's view about the pitch though. Dale played it long because we cut off the other options... in that respect Hasselbaink out-thought Hill on the day. He said a lot about how he respected the way Dale played before the game; didn't say anything about what he was going to do about it. But he was obviously thinking about it...

Wether he is or not the facts are.... fans can expect an excellent playing surface courtesy of club groundsmen Simon Marshall who has won several awards for his work. During the 2009/2010 season Simon won Groundsman of the Year in League Two, footballtripper.com/pirelli-stadium-burton-albion-fc/And the Pirelli was voted best pitch in all Leagues that year. Not sticky...

It wasn't very good against Stevenage last season...
Much remedial work done in the close season and a longer seeding time.

Yes, I did get your joking intent. My comment was more for Jimmys/general info as to how great our pitch has been over the years, not a poke at anyone. The pitch was completely replaced this past summer and the summer before. Not sure about the previous few seasons though. And of course replacing it does not guarantee that the new one will be pristine, but it has always looked great to me.
