Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has been nominated for League One Manager of the Month for August alongside Sheff Utd's Nigel Adkins, Gillingham's Justin Edinburgh and Walsall's Dean Smith. www.burtonmail.co.uk/Burton-Albion-boss-Hasselbaink-shortlist-Sky-Bet/story-27717898-detail/story.htmlDeserved nomination for the excellent start we've had in a higher division. Our start is even more remarkable considering the other 3 sides who came up with us are still searching for their first league win of the season. The daily mail seem to rate him too - linky'cementing a reputation as one of the best managers in the football league' How long can we hold onto him?

Dean Smith. Absolutely nailed on. Walsall played seven games in August. Won six (including beating two Championship sides), drawn one and scored 17 goals in the process.
As for how long we can keep hold of Jimmy? We'll see. My personal feeling is that he's 43 and there will always be huge clubs in the Championship, Premier League or even in the Netherlands who will be looking for new managers. Since he's got many, many years of management ahead of him I reckon he might stick around for a while and see how far he can take us. The acid test will be if Derby or Forest's seasons continue to take a serious nose dive. Frightening to think what Jimmy could do at a club that can throw money around like Derby.

Well, I said from day one that we are very fortunate to have him at BAFC. He signed a 2.5 year contract that expires at the end of next season. If he get us promoted this season he will definitely stay IMO, if he keeps us up and in a decent position he may well go at the end of this season, depending on how Rosler gets on at Leeds.

Manager of the Month - September Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink nominated again for League One manager of the month Hasselbaink (pictured) faces stiff competition for the award – one he has been nominated for on several occasions, going back to the League Two days, but has never once won. David Flitcroft of Bury would appear to be the favourite – the Shakers won all five of their League One games in September and have since picked up another three points in October against Colchester United, putting them third in the table. Ten goals were scored in those five games with only four conceded. Also nominated are Phil Brown of Southend United, who lost 1-0 to the Brewers at the Pirelli Stadium on Saturday, and Tony Humes of Colchester. The winner of the award will be announced on Friday, October 9. Nice to see Jimmy get a nomination. Disappointing that Stuart Beavon didnt get a nomination for the player award as well.
Wouldnt be at all surprised to see a Bury double on this one with Flitcroft and Clarke getting the awards.

The nomination is fine, we don't want him winning owt before Sat. Why? The curse of the manager of the month is a fallacy.

Congratulations Jimmy! Finally they give you the recognition you deserve! "I'm surprised, grateful and, in a way, honoured, but it's really not something that I'm after," said the Brewers boss. "Don't get me wrong, I'm not disrespectful whatsoever, but I'm more after achievements with the boys and I don't want to be singled out. "I think, so far, the boys have been exceptional and I definitely think, when a manager gets that recognition, they should give the group recognition."

How typical of the man Jimmy is...he won't take the credit, what an excellent leader? Realistically this guy is bound for much bigger things so keep enjoying Jimmy's party while it lasts.

On the subject of "Jimmy's party", what are the words to that chant? I'm sure it used to be the very crude "...we're the *something* yellow army" but to my ears it seems to have evolved into something probably similarly crude perhaps involving the word "charlie"? It was going for 5-10 mins the other night, u can hear it on the Sheff Utd highlights

Somebody pass me the smelling salts...has Jimmy actually won a managerial award??? About time the old boys network saw past their mates and picked the right man!
Congratualtions Jimmy. Long overdue. Proper recognition for the work done here. Long may it continue.

Either the Blades or his next club, QPR, picked it up and started singing about it. We took it on and changed the words as have a lot of club's supporters. Now our lot sing it about Jimmy and I think "we're the f**king yellow army" alternates with the "vodka and charlie" bit.

Shame it couldn't just be Burton's yellow army or Jimmy's yellow army rather than lowering it to swearing? I know I'm being a boring old git but perhaps with more youngsters coming along it would be good to be setting a reasonable example and you'd probably get more joining in? Same goes for the Nasser song too!

What is the Nasser chant? I can never understand the words.
I quite liked: He moves down the left He moves down the righhht El Khayati, makes Messi look sh..e
Which is only 'light' swearing!

Cheers Spence good background knowledge, nice one. Agreed Johnno, the best chants undoubtedly avoid the need for filler effs & jeffs. Oh and well done Jimmy, what a legend.

I find it odd that so many threads get twisted out of shape. This one is about Jimmy getting Manager and The Month and somehow it's now about swearing??? You can always start a separate thread if you wish to discuss something...
