Burton Albion boss Hasselbaink has selection headache ahead of trip to Barnsley "JIMMY Floyd Hasselbaink admits the performance of his Burton Albion players in the 1-0 win over Bolton Wanderers has given him a selection headache. The Brewers knocked the Championship side out of the Capital One Cup in the first round on Tuesday night through Matty Palmer's late strike. Albion made six changes for the match from the 2-1 win over Scunthorpe United last Saturday and were defensively resolute throughout. The two holding midfielders – Callum Reilly and Calum Butcher – closed down the midfield in place of Robbie Weir and Tom Naylor." Manager Lee Johnson has given his thoughts ahead of the first Oakwell fixture of the season against Burton Albion this weekend. Audio - Johnson On Burton.... click bottom link for this... Speaking to the Official Site in his pre game press conference the manager went on to say that he was expecting a very tough game against a well organised Burton side, no doubt on a high following last year's promotion success from League Two. 'I think it is going to be a very tough game for us. They have momentum, they`re a team that have been together a long time and haven`t added too many signings. They`re very organised and disciplined. We had someone at the game on Tuesday and they defended very well and had some threats on the breaks. It will be a difficult game for us, it isn`t going to be one we can turn up and win, we have to be at our absolute best to stand a chance of winning.' Having said that though Johnson knows we have a good side ourselves and we should have confidence within the team that sees us through, so as long as we approach the match right and come out with the right attitude he's confident of all three points. With a defeat to Chesterfield and then a penalty win over Scunthorpe in the Cup, Johnson went on to say that the weekend was an opportunity for the players to give the fans something to shout about. 'It`s a good marker for us and you never get a second chance at a first impression and we have players who want to make that first impression and hopefully will make a good one on Saturday. I was really disappointed and it hurt the defeat because it was a cup final mentality and we had mild depression for a couple of days, as did the players. It was a tough game against Scunthorpe but we did come through it and it was a bit of a character builder. There`s another on Saturday and they come thick and fast in this division and we`ve got to be up for it.' As for team news ahead of the game, Johnson confirmed we did have a few doubts but he expected to field a strong side on the day. 'We have a few aching bodies but generally everyone is okay. Marley Watkins had a hip flexor problem but he is ok and Sam Winnall was suffering with blisters believe it or not. It was one of the nastiest blisters I`ve ever seen on the sole of his foot from the Chesterfield game so he was quite brave just to get out there. At Chesterfield the pitch was hard but I asked him whether he was wearing new boots and me he said no, whether or not he was censored.word I don`t know. But when I saw it, it did make me wince.' Johnson went on to say that Ryan Williams was set to return to training today and he was going to be 'pushed' to bring his own fitness on further, but it would of course be done sensibly. With confirmation today of Mason Holgate's move to Everton, Johnson also said he wasn't necessarily finished in the transfer market himself this summer. 'We`ve certainly got plans but it`s difficult to say we have moves ready to go because the majority of time they are other people`s players and a lot has got to go on. Naturally you do set wheels in motion for different scenarios or even two or three to happen. There`s good players everywhere and players we`re interested in because they are good players.' Exert from blog.. link below.. Here are The Football Lab’s predictions for 3 of this weekend’s League One fixtures. Burton Albion look for a third win in the space of a week at Barnsley, Rochdale aim to build on last week’s win over Peterborough when they go to Blackpool, while Millwall and Coventry will endeavour to put midweek League Cup exits behind them at The Den. Barnsley v Burton Barnsley fell apart in the second half at Chesterfield last week. They clearly have players with technical talent, as we saw in their opening goal, as Arsenal loanee Dan Crowley played a through ball for Conor Wilkinson to finish well. However, they currently have no experienced leaders who can organize the team, manage a game and relieve pressure. That showed in the second half, as the youthful Tykes fell victim to a Chesterfield onslaught. Added to that, the long-winded and controversial manner of Mason Holgate’s transfer to Everton this week may have served as a distraction, in terms of Barnsley’s preparation for this match. What’s more, their next opponents are Burton Albion, a side seemingly on the crest of a wave after promotion from League Two. The Brewers, who will not have forgotten the 5-0 FA Cup drubbing at Oakwell back in November, have won both of their first 2 games this season, including a 1-0 triumph over Championship side Bolton. Stuart Beavon was one of the stand-out performers in League Two last year, due to his work rate, tenacity and team play, and having opened his goalscoring account against Scunthorpe last week, he will be a key player for the visiting side. Following their opening day victory, Burton are currently the only team to have won 100% of their fixtures in the history of League One. That may, perhaps, be a short-lived record, but the haphazard nature of Barnsley’s defence suggests it will still be in tact come Saturday evening. www.thefootballab.co.uk/2015/league-one-preview-gameweek-2/?

What does he class as 'too many signings'? We've made a lot imo!

Tough game. Hopefully we fare better than we did last season at Oakwell. McLaughlin
Edwards Mousinho O'Connor McCrory
Weir Naylor
Akins Duffy JBW
Beavon That would be my team. Glad I don't have to make the decisions on who to leave out though! Fortunately the turn over of fixtures is rapid at this point of the season so any disappointed players tomorrow will probably get their chance at Blackpool on Tuesday night.

McLaughlin Vs Matthews will be a headache. Matthews seems to be a better shot stopped but his distribution is poor.
I think Nasser will play over JBW. But JBW would be better to 'keep us in the game' of we're under the kosh he can defend significantly better.

I hear Remi had an excellent game at Bolton and he was decisive and commanding in his area against Scunthorpe. Agree about the distribution. I think that McLaughlin's form last season and the fact that he's our player as opposed to a loanee will be decisive. Maybe if McLaughlin had been out for a while and Remi had really impressed over 5 or 6 games then he'd keep his spot but I don't think the first two games of the season are quite enough.

I'd go with Spences lineup, but Jimmy might start with Nasser although I think he could be a super-sub type in this team Ilike Zeli was when he was here before.

Half time score is 0 - 0 Reading the new "live blog" from Ashley at the Burton Mail site. Much better commentary than the BBC. If you are following the game on the BBC commentary I suggest you go to the Burton Mail "sport" site and follow from there.
See that Remi is on the bench and McLaughlin gets the start.

Well I don't want to jinx us and touch wood and all that but so far we are 0-0 at half time but stats wise we are all over them.
7 shots to 1 5 corners to 1 4 shots on taget to 0
Means nothing of course other than whatever the result today we can certainly hold our own in this league

Sky say it was an incredibly soft penalty and that we've been bossing it.
Decisions like this wind me up no end

FULL TIME: #BFC 1 - 0 #BAFC. Hourihane's penalty the difference come the final whistle. End of JFH "unbeaten" run in League games, I reckon. Oh well - C O Y B the Lads had it all over Barnsley today, just one "soft" penalty did for us.
