Well not quite so good today and a tough day at the office. But then again it should be against one of the best teams in the Championship last season, who have added £10,000,000 worth of signings over the summer. So whilst we weren't as fluid and Jimmy was clearly disappointed and disgruntled with the team afterwards, I don't think we should get too despondent about a defeat against a team a division higher and the 15/8 promotion favourites to boot. Positives were Nasser, who wouldn't have looked out of place with Derby's millionaires, Mark Duffy the Brewers man of the match , Timmy Theile was scored our goal, Anthony O'Connor who looks a natural alongside Moose and Jerome Binnom-Williams who looks like he can be a real asset on the left. Bring on the Scunthorpe.

Pre-season warm up match. Not very important. (Imagine how different my post would have been if Burton had won 4 - nil).

How's Maynard, sounded like an OTT tackle on him right on FT?

From my view the tackle on him was an accident, the Derby player slid/fell into him - I hope he is alright and the stretcher was just a precaution. Fair play to the stretcher bearers as well, his is a well bult lad.

He looked in a bad way and Mark Duffy seemed to confirm that on Radio Derby afterwards. The farcical situation was that the 4 stretcher bearers (3 ladies and an older guy) could hardly lift him and could have made the situation a lot worse. Good job it wasn't Binnom -Williams as he is a big unit and I don't think they'd have got him back to the dressing room.

I now Derby are a talented side, but their quality still surprised me. I thought overall they were excellent. We should not be too disturbed as Mikey Boy says. Jimmy was very disappointed that our team did not press them harder, and for 15 to 20 minutes after half time you could see what he was after. i thought there were some good positives to take from the game, like Nasser, Duffy, O'Connor, Binnom-Williams for instance. I think they struggled to deliver what Jimmy wanted to see, as they became a bit overwhelmed. The first goal was a hard one to take, because it was once again self inflicted, like at least two other of our pre-season goals. I think this put us on the back foot, particularly following the great play and shot by Nasser which hit the inside of the post well before they scored. If anything this result will do us good in getting ready fro Scunthorpe next Saturday. I hope Kelvin Maynard's injury isn't too serious.

Can anyone tell me what cracked off in the West terrace during the game? The club are getting absolutely ripped to pieces on social media for allowing Derby supporters in there but no one is actually specifying what they did to cause such a reaction from our lot. Am I seeing a lot of overreaction?

There were Derby fans all over the ground, probably as many as Burton fans in the pop side. The vast majority supported their team, at a 'friendly' and didn't cause any problems.
Reading on social media some of the Burton fans behind the goal were a little uncomfortable at some more hobby Derby fans who were less friendly than perhaps others.
Their territory was invaded they feel they have been let down by the club.
From what I saw, nothing actually happened, but there was a risk that something may have done.
Personally I rather enjoyed the fact that we were mixed together, took me back to the old days, never for one second did I feel the slightest bit threatened or unsafe.
It also made a change for the opposition players to be slagged off rather than hearing moans about our own players. One classic bit about Bent needing to "do something", just before he smashed them ahead :-)
I do take the point of some fans though about this being a bit of a wake up call for the club, there will be some sell out away followings this season (as we have had before) the club will need to be clear about how to prevent away fans getting access to the home areas (as they have done before).

It was very pleasant talking to the Derby fans on the pop side. El Khayati impressed them with his skills, esp. when he almost put us ahead. Derby looked very competent with their ability to one touch passing and always have a player in space to collect the pass. On the other hand we seem to be working on a controlled passing game for the future. We have a little way to go yet. Bring on Scunthorpe and we'll do well over the season. I'm glad I'm not picking them team. Today, this was a friendly.....next week we are playing for points!

Ah right. People just moaning for moaning's sake then. Jolly good. I saw that someone left after half an hour because he was scared and now he's on about boycotting the club. Poor little chicken. The thing is I didn't go and I've seen LOADS of stuff in the past 12 hours on public forums from our own lot laying into the club. It's only Funky's post that has given me a proper explanation as to what actually cracked off. Some friends of mine went and they said nothing happened in the home end but I wanted an opinion from someone on here. My point is when you look at the many reasons why the locals are reluctant to come and watch Burton Albion, maybe one place to look is the outward image that some of our supporters with a larger social media presence give other people of the club. Genuine concern of mine. I wish some people would step back and have a bit of a think before telling thousands of people online how badly the club are treating the supporters.

I think some of the reaction is understandable but also maybe a bit over the top.
If you're used to having the place to yourself or sharing it only with others who support the home team - enabling you to feel free to hurl abuse at those playing in the wrong colour shirt, then if a group of supporters wearing that wrong colour shirt are standing next to you........then, perhaps inevitably, you are going to feel your behaviour is being constrained by them being there.......and maybe it needs to be......
I was in the Bovril and I noticed a group of Derby Rams appear out of the blue in the second half - they were occasionally noisy in support of their side and perhaps intimidating for some, as there was a group of them and they were lads...........but there was nothing unacceptable or threatening that I saw or heard - unless, as I say, you simply find the presence of opposition fans in your usual Albion only place, threatening or off-putting - and, as I'm also saying, some will......

How's Maynard, sounded like an OTT tackle on him right on FT? he seemed to be waving his arm for help straight away! It looked like he was telling Fenton that his knee bent laterally (a LCL or MCL injury 6-8 weeks) but if it's an ACL or PCL then that's a 6-8 months recovery time which really sucks. I think Maynard is a big part of this squad, he can play at least 5 positions and as such is a very good asset. If he is out long term than perhaps J-B-W can help cover some of KM's roles!! I would like to see a replay of what actually happened here!

I hate to see this sort of Sh1t stirring - cut Ben some slack after all he has done for the club. We need to take all opportunities to generate vital revenue!
