PA equipment is pretty amazing these days. It's difficult to get it wrong. But there is a lot of bull shit talked about it too. The problem on the Pop Side is Intermittent. This means that sometimes when you check it, it appears to work fine but at other times it disappears. It also distorts. Cheap crap equipment or not enough headroom on the amps or speaker cones damaged (or most likely I think) the wiring has deteriorated due to weather, damp etc and needs a full replacement which is costly and time consuming. If I was doing it and had a bit if a budget I would strip out, re-wire with top quality outdoor low impedance speaker cable, install decent (not premium but not cheap and nasty either, Mackie for me) speakers, decent microphones SHURE SM58 industry standard as a starting point and have amps that only need to be just ticking over at a third of their maximum output to get enough volume to be heard over an average crowd noise. With the size of the ground and 3000 + folks inside, you need at least a 5kw rig I would say. That's off the top of my head, I seriously thought that this would have been done over the summer break and we would start the L1 season with a new system. It sounds like a big, time-consuming, job so it looks like we're stuck with what we have until next season at least. I don't know what the life expectancy is on these things, depends on the quality I suppose, but those wires and speakers have been there for 10 years now and they look like the wiring at the speaker connections has been patched up at least once.

Yesterday I went to the ground to watch the football, not the PA system. Which may I say I enjoyed and it showed us a lot of promise for the season ahead. For me every player looks to be fitter and more hungry for success. Some of the passing was wonderful with every player looking confident. Fair enough it was a game against a team that is having to be rebuilt after a few poor seasons but it had a lot of quality players in it, with some good young talent that will make them a lot of money in the future, but Birmingham seemed to lack the hunger and team spirit we seemed to have. It was only a friendly so you cannot gauge a lot from it, but that said as a player no one goes on a pitch to loose and being from a higher division and bigger club they must be a little embarrassed due the great support they brought and out numbered our support 3/1. I heard there had been some trouble from their fans pre kick off, which would be disappointing as we have a good relationship with their club and it was a meaningless friendly. A good enjoyable afternoon. That said I am very concerned about the PA system.

Perhaps they mentioned it in more polite tones than you Herb.
Email the club and tell them where you are experiencing the problems. People at the club have better things to do with their time than sit on social media waiting for comments/complaints about things.
I'm not back until the Scunthorpe game now.

I know it's only highlights but to me it looks the most technically accomplished Albion team I've ever seen. And, as Rowett said in the next clip it looked like the Albion boys wanted it more than Birmingham. That's surely a good combination to give us hope for the next few months.

Yeah, like I said earlier, in the last 2 games I have been very happy with the players we have and the cohesiveness of the squad so far They are playing good team football, on the floor and passing and roll outs from the keeper etc (I can't recall many hoofballs yesterday other than to get out a dangerous situation). And the signings Jimmy has made have increased the competition for spots and provided excellent versatile coverage for all positions. Again yesterday Maynard came on as a CM and then switched to RB when Phil was subbed. Bring on the Foxes on Tuesday. PS: I changed the thread title back to my original one as I hadn't modified it and don't think it is right for an admin to do that on our behalf...

We have a team of hungry players. League One is not a huge step up from League two - especially in wages terms
Whereas Championship offers much bigger jump in wages. If I'm one of those players I'm thinking I want Championship and you get a group of players together who are hungry and it's possible.
The manager wants it badly as well.

This is not intended to be arrogant, but we could I think have almost fielded any one of two teams yesterday, and caused problems. We seem to have such a strong squad. I just wonder if some other club is about to pounce on us to buy one or more of our major assets before the window closes

I was looking at a picture someone posted on FB yesterday, we had a squad of 26, not including the triallists. Now accepting we have a few youngsters in there as well but it is a larger squad (I think) than we have ever had. There will, I am sure, be a few disgruntled footballers on 8th August. It does look very positive though. I am getting a bit moist!

Marks out of 10:
BAFC: 10 (considering we were playing a Championship side).
BCFC: 5 (they were ok in the first half).
PA: 5 (it worked as reliably as the BCFC defence, and yes I have reported it via the official site - the PA not the BCFC defence).

Sorry about my PA subject post, which not really relevant. I guess I get a bit irked by the fact that it could be sorted if the will was there. Back to football and the most important topic, I thought the Brewers acquitted themselves very well and, although psf matches are irrelevant result-wise, I agree with Funky that we have a very exciting squad of players (although to keep in line with the rules of the forum I will mention that we need a 20 goal a season striker) ;-)

Pardon? No, that never happened. The Blues player kicked it off Naylor and it went to Phil who was kept onside by 2 Blues players! .?? 3:32 of the highlights video. "The Brewers took advantage and won a corner of their own on 59 minutes. It came to Naylor, who saw his shot blocked. The ball then ricocheted off a Birmingham shirt and found Phil Edwards, not offside as it hit an opposing player, free."
