We're getting close to a full squad now, with perhaps a couple of places to fill. How do you think it looks? So far I am feeling fairly good about it. I'd like to see Lee Bell sign if possible, plus one other. I have heard that the atmosphere within the team is very good and, and that is very important. Throughout the summer GR has been making the right noises, and I hope he is able to deliver, his pre-season work is almost impossible to fault.

We are 7/2 for relegation with Skybet and William Hill and a whopping great 5-1 with Bet 365. Barnet, Accrington, Dagenham and Redbridge, Morecambe and Wimbledon are down amongst the dead men with us. I hope we have done enough to prove the bookies wrong, but this is a tough league and time will tell.
Another proper goalscorer, a right back and Lee Bell signed and sealed would help.
But fingers crossed we will be better than they think.

Got to say I think we do need another striker as I am starting to get a bit worried by the fact that we have not seen anything of Billy Kee yet , which makes me think he will not be ready for the start of the season .

A right back is needed , along with a keeper of our own and I also feel we're still light in midfield, .. A striker would be at the bottom of my list of priorities.

According to GR Billy Kee is very close to being involved.

I think we need: a right back - O'Connor would be a very good signing a winger - Jacques can't play both sides Lee Bell to sign a striker who can score with his head

I think we're still looking thin on the wings and up front. Would love it if we could move Taylor and possibly Palmer on but can't see it happening.
Richards worries me too as he has looked a shadow of his former self since Christmas and we already seem over-reliant on Kee despite his long absence. I think another striker with a bit about them is a must. Wouldn't mind Winnall coming back, he seems to be out of the frame a bit at Wolves

Cleveland Taylor looks like the old Cleveland in the pre season games. Hopefully it's a good sign. I ain't too sure about Palmer.
The strikers is an interesting one though. Justin Richards does still look naff to me, and Rowett did say in the Calvin Zola article in Friday's mail that he wants to bring an extra striker in. Who knows how Billy Kee will play after so long out of action...

Billy Kee will need a bit of time to get back to where he was. But I think Billy will deliver, he has the right sort of mental approach and enthusiasm for the game. I also thought Cleveland looks more up for it this time. I hope so.

Those who been to the matches say there are some encouraging signs but consistancy will be the important factor. We won't know the answer to this question until November at the earliest.

for me Taylor is an older Lewis Young, he runs up and down the wing but falls over as soon as anyone comes near. and Chrissy and Jimmy arn't tough enough. need a Russ Penn type. Hopefully this new ex- Reading striker, Williams, works out. He'll play tonight.

Don't think you'd ever see Lewis Young scoring some of the goals that Cleveland has scored for us, he has a lot more quality just needs to show it more consistently.

It's hard to judge it so early on in pre-season, although I've been very impressed with the signings Rowett has made, I still think we need to add a few more players, but on first impressions I'm very impressed.

It is said in the Ilkeston thread that a "Williams" scored the second BAFC goal today. I assume (woe is me?) this Williams is a new trialist we are looking at.
If true - is this one the new striker so many want ??

Brett Williams - of Reading. Was on loan at Rotherham last year, played the whole game and looked more of the finished product than Yussuf but I am not sure he was the one we need.

We need Williams to play at least one more game. He had very little supply, looked sharp in patches, but this game was not a good shop window for him to show us much to be honest. We will hopefully play much better than last night as the season starts, or we will stuggle.

A couple of Ilson's young guns might be better bets. I was so impressed with Ryan Wilson.

Told you so,the cracks are already appearing simply not good enough, why is atkins back again I can only presume he is a cheap option and derby are paying all his wages. Yussef/Philips players who have failed in the past, others on 2 year deals who were woeful last season,I feel sorry for the new boys because they will soon become tainted, by how crap the others are.
