I enjoyed the Ajax arena tour, preferred it as a ground to the Nou Camp, very steep, but better views I thought. Neither were a patch on the stadium tour of the national stadium in Montevideo though (venue for the first World Cup final). That was an experience... I will say the guide impressed me. A young Dutch chap who was clearly an Ajax obsessive and knew the club inside out and back to front. You may think that's a pre-requisite for a football club tour guide but a friend of mine has done a few tours of English grounds and the guides amazingly haven't been as clued up or enthusiastic. Great result in the Netherlands for the lads. Will be a good experience for them.

Thanks for that peacock, yes some useful saves there from Matthews, noticed Anthony O'Connor in action 2nd half.

No Dutch trialist appeared then. Unless the trialist was O'Connor.

After the training game against Arnhem the other night there was a gallery of photos published on a Dutch website and there was a player on a couple of the photos who may well have been a triallist as I didn't recognise him. I am guessing that he was released prior to Saturday.
Without going trawling back to the original news item was it actually confirmed it was a Dutch trialist we were supposed to be having or did it say we were having a trialist with us whilst in Holland? (The two are not the same thing as we may have taken a trialist with us)

Jimmy said that there would possibly be a couple of trialist's appearing in pre-season games but not in the same game , as he doesn't like to have too many in on trial . I don't think there was any mention of the player being Dutch .
Like Terraceman57 says , I'm of the same opinion that Anthony O'Connor is the trialist .

Not our first ever game on foreign soil, we have played at Colwyn Bay and Merthyrn the past, and Bishop Auckland. Frickley was not foreign soil, but it was in a different world! Not to mention Barry,Cardiff,Bangor & Caernarfon We've also played at Wrexham, Newport and Rhyl. And Chester have one of their stands in Wales, although I do of course realise we don't actually play football in the stand!

Ok lads for the record our 1st game on the continent was at Arnhem followed by Ado Den Haag. For what its worth I have seen us play at Wrexham, Colwyn Bay, Rhyl, Bangor City and Caenarfon Town in North Wales and Merthyr Tydfil, Barry Town, Bridgend, Newport and Cardiff in South Wales.

I think we played Newport I.O.W in a preseason friendly when Cloughie was in charge. Perhaps someone can confirm, like E7#9.

E7#9 is correct. We played Newport IOW in a pre-season friendly during the days of Nigel Clough. Cant recall what year it was and cant say that I went but I recall Nigel using it as one of his team bonding exercises that particular summer.
